    Since two other threads of this heading have been started, I believe as a patriotic Americian I am complelled to start the official " PRESIDENT MARTIN VAN BURNEN BASHING THREAD"

    President Van Buren did not want Texas to join the Union! :tear:

    Van Buren help form the Free Soil Party.
    It was preceeded by the Democrat Party and succeeded by the Republician Party.

    How can we bash van Buren -since he helped form the Free Soil. From the Website:

    [The Free Soil Party contended that slavery undermined 
    the dignity of labor     and inhibited social mobility, and was 
    therefore fundamentally un    -Democratic. Viewing slavery 
    as an economically inefficient, obsolete institution, Free Soilers
