    On his show today, Gelnn Beck said that there is a discussion that the War Between the States was fought in part over the Railorads - in that the North wanted the Federal govt to do it and the South wanted the States or Commowealths to build them.

    Thoughts?

    I've been a civil war buff most of my life and have read I have no idea how many books on that era and I have never heard that reason suggested ... even in jest. I do not put any stock in that idea.

    If you want a good read of a relatively recent book try:
