Askjo, are these appropriate or inappropriate translations? Or maybe I should ask which of these are appropriate translations?

    Are You A KJV Onlyist?

It seems some folks have alleged such. So let me provide your own answers to your own questions and we can see the double standard clearly.

But assuming the KJV is the 'Word of God' and there is no other English Word of God...

    Isn't that just an opinion?

And isn't your opinion that the KJV is the best and something else is the worst and that you do 'not like' any version that is not the KJV and perhaps you're 'unhappy' with another version like the ESV or you think 'Gods Word' should say exactly what the KJV says simply because it's the KJV.

I would be interested in knowing on what basis a KJV Onlyist deduces from Scripture that 'formal equivalence' is the best translation philosophy.

I would further be interested in knowing on what BIBLICAL basis a KJV Only advocate figures that 'preserved Word of God = KJV.'

Finally, I would really like a biblical passage telling me which particular Greek text is the 'right' one.

I dare say that Jesus and the apostles' quotations are sometimes not precisely word for word (dyanmic equivalence or paraphrase anyone?), some come from the LXX and some from Hebrew (there goes that 'preferred Greek text only' argument), and they always quoted from translations and not the original.

It seems Jesus and the apostles had quite a bit more in common with modern-day CTers (conservative ones) than they did the KJV Onlyists.

    Well, since you asked.
Macabees 14:17 Thou shalt use the Inspired Word that was conveyed to My servant King James only.
Macabees 14:18 King James shall be added to Hebrews 11 during a later edition.

    Someone may have misinformed you???

In fact, you quoted 2 Opinions 14:17-18!

Here are the same verses from the Real Bible:

    1 Maccabees 14:17-18 (KJV1611 Edition):
But assoone as they heard that his brother Simon
was made high Priest in his stead, and ruled
the countrey, and the cities therein,
18 They wrote vnto him in tables of brasse, to renew
the friendship & league which they had made
with Iudas and Ionathan his brethren:

    2 Maccabees 14:17-18 (KJV1611 Edition):
Now Simon, Iudas brother, had ioyned battell with
Nicanor, but was somewhat discomfited, through
the suddaine silence of his enemies.
18 Neuerthelesse Nicanor hearing of the manlinesse
of them that were with Iudas, and the courageousnes
that they had to fight for their countrey, durst not
try the matter by the sword.

    Question:
What do you need to get at least six opinions
    on any given subject?

    Answer:
    At least five Baptists.

    Askjo,

Where art thou? You made a statement and we would like some clarity and proof. That was several weeks ago and we are still waiting....
