To quote younger me: "Oh, snap!"

Your remark reminds me of a book one of my friends recently read:

    podles.org/church-impotent.htm

Haven't read it myself but my initial scan gives me the impression it accurately describes several trends.

If anyone reads this text, maybe start a new thread and let us know what you think?

If they start approving of homosexual marriage, they will have departed from the faith.

Sad that folks would go along with stuff that God tell us to be against.

No political arm for the CBF? Not buying that one.

If they start goats on an altar, that too would be a departure from orthodoxy. Neither has happened, nor is there a motion, resolution or recommendation from a committee for either!

The name of the political arm would be....?

The closest thing resembling the ERLC of the SBC would be the Baptist Joint Committee which is an independent organization made of all kinds of Baptists, beholden to no one specific Baptist entity. They do their own thing. If CBF wants to join them they can, if not, BJC still does their own thing.

So let me get this straight - If a Church of Christ (baptismal regeneration) wanted to become a part of the CBF - that would be fine. If a group of Roman Catholic wanted to affiliate with the CBF, that would be fine.

As far as SS literature, I wasn't aware we were required to use Lifeway.

Just wondering, what Colleges and Seminaries do most CBF pastors attend?

As far as the SBC - controlling us - thats sure news to me.....

The name of their political arm is the CBF. The entire group started out of politics. Just because they do not have a group equivalent to the ERLC does not mean they have no political arm.

Ridiculous question not going to happen. If it were me I would take their money and go and do Baptist work!

No, you're not. But it is the official publishing arm of the SBC, the CBF has no such entity.

Lot's of different schools - don't know how to answer that. I bet if you could think of a school, I bet there is someone in the CBF who attended it, but I don't know that for sure.

All organizations are political, not all organizations are involved with electoral politics. The SBC is involved with electoral politics, see Richard Land and the ERLC. The CBF has no such equivalent arm of their organization. If you can't see that has a HUGE difference, fine, but the rest of reality does.

The last place I would get my news from is here!

There was an opinion expressed by one individual. Cardinal Mohler got his knickers in a twist about it and suddenly the CBF is anti-god and anti-family. Not true, no action, no vote, no recommendation. No matter how much Cardinal Mohler, Pope Paige and their minions want the CBF to vote to hate God and burn an American flag, no such thing has happened.

I know that you know about the conference and statement on homosexuality; you were the last one to post on it in this thread: http://www.baptistboard.com/showthread.php?t=77646

Excuse me if this a bit off topic, but:

About a month ago, a freind of mine (from many years ago) visted our church!

After reading this thread, I investged the CBF website - and guess what - my friend is the Associate Pastor of a local church here in the Syracuse area!

Wonder why he did not mention that?

My feelings are known about the SBC leadership, I don't like them.
