Church signs are key to outreach

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)--Often the most effective way to promote your church's ministries is a church message sign.

Why? Your best prospects probably live close to the church. They very likely pass by it every day. They're on the way to and from work, going to the grocery store, or running other errands. Many of these folks probably go by your church more than once a day.

If you don't have a church message sign, you need to get one. If you do have one, you need to make sure the messages are very inviting and that they stay fresh. That is where many churches make a crucial mistake –- they don't devote enough time to their messages.

Yes I do, I use to drive about 70 miles one way to and from work, there were about 4 churches and one business building that would have a bible verse or some saying on a sign, after driving by them and reading them for a year or so I began asking myself if there really was a God, then one sat. night at work it was like a light switch turned on inside me and I knew there was a God, at 2 am I called my wife and told her I wanted to go to church the next day and soon after that I gave my life to Christ, It's been His since 1998,I never will forget that night it seems as it was yesterday.

That is not the reason I went to church. The reason I went was because of God . I knew if I did not change that I was going to a devils hell. God had lead me to the house of my masters brothen. Some of the signs I read off the road in front of a church made me upset and they don't make any scence. I thank a signs should say the time the date and the name of your church. I would rather go into a church like this then a church that has there own thought of what the bible says. Let me give you a exable. I seen one that said , What would Jesus do. I thought to myself he has already done it. Why will I go into a church when they don't know what Jesus has already done. I seen more than that to but I do not care to explain it. I just thought I will give you what I thank about the signs. I do not thank that is what cause me to go to church.

Charles, your posts confuse me. You say you are not a Christian and not born again. It's obvious you have read much of the Bible and you go to church, so I'm wondering what is holding you back from accepting Christ as your Savior?

Church signs can help. Are they "key"? Probably not. But they help. Church signs should avoid cheesy, trite sayings, and stick with verses of Scripture or announcements of upcoming events.

    Amy;
Charles can speak for himself but maybe I can shed some light on it. The Lord is working with Charles and maybe he has something yet he needs to give up, for we believe we must give it all to the Lord to be saved. He is waiting until he feels the Lord has completely forgive him of all his sins and the Lord "adds" him to the church. When that happens, there is not enough devils in this world that would keep Charles from going up the aisle to give his hand to the church to be baptized. We are a people who believe in "repentance" and it not just turning either, there must me a Godly sorrow set up in the heart that worketh this repentance. Charles is very close, I can tell by what he says and it won't be long before he gives his hand. He invited me down to their church and I would like to go and preach for them. I am a sick man, but maybe God will work something out for me to go. Blessings,

    BBob

    Amy:

I have not followed every post made by Charles, but what you say confused me.

If Charles had not professed to be a Christian, or professed an experience of grace, then why does his public profile say Old Regular Baptist, which means he is a member of an ORB church.

Did he ever say he was not a Christian ?

Yes Pinoy, he has made these statements a few times, "I am not a Christian" and "I am not born again".
Like you said he is ORB and his posts reflect a lot of Bible study, so that's why I was confused by his comments.

I'm sure you've already read Bro. Bob's answer a couple of posts back by this time.

I like the signs that Churches have. I like to see things on them that makes you think.
How is Charles posting on a baptist only forum when he is not one?

Do you have to be saved to go to church? He said go down to the potters house and there I will cause you to hear my words. I go to the old regular Baptist church and the reason I am not saved yet is because I am on a travel from nature to grace. God has let me know what I am by nature (a sinner)and what I must be by the grace of God. I must be born again. And to the one who made that coment about why am on the b board. I must be up and about my fathers business.:praying:

No you do not have to be saved to go to church.
You are supposed to be a member of a Baptist church to post in the Baptist only forum. I am a Baptist and can not join the mens private forum because I do not have enough posts. Does something seem wrong with this to you?

    RE: Do you believe this?

I can tell you all that what Charles is going through now, I did as well. Whenever God showed me that I was on a path that would only lead to hell, I began my journey. I am not saying one can't be saved in 5 seconds, because they can, but in my case, I guess I wasn't willing to let go of everything. But on that glorious morning of May 24, 2007 I gave it all to Him and He lifted me out of the miry clay and placed me on THE ROCK, and established my goings. I do not believe that a mere lip confession will save you, "For with the heart, man believeth unto righteousness, And with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation." But it speaks of "with the heart". Jesus states that they praise Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. It also says that when you give Him your WHOLE heart, He will be found with you. Whenever I was a sinner, if someone would have asked me if Jesus was God's only Son, I would have said "yes". If they asked me if I beleived He died for my sins, I would say "yes". But those "yesses" were with my head, not my heart. Some on here will agree with me, and some won't, and it's no "biggee" if you don't. But mere "head religion" won't save any of us. So Daniel(Charles_Creech) just keep praying until you feel satisified that God has COMPLETELY forgiven you.

Sorry if I am hijacking the thread, but there are a few churches around here that have the church "billboard" signs and I see nothing wrong with them. The Word needs to be published about this "dying" land of ours. We need to make sure that when we come before the Judgement Seat of Christ, that we can tell Him we did all we could to further the gospel. As long as they use the signs to give out church meeting times, and have some scriptures on them, I think it can only be good.

To join the Men's Forum, PM Barnabas with your information and he will get you in.

As for the signs, our church does not have one, but I like to read them. I can see where one would be drawn in by some of them.

Mat 15:27And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.

Keep praying and asking questions Charles.
