    Hey Brothers and Sisters,

I was wondering if anyone on this board has ever had a book published. I know that some of you that have earned Ph.d's or D.Min's and the like may have something published. Anyone here have anything out that I may could find at Lifeway or my local Christian bookstore?

    In Christ,

    Brooks

    Yes.

    No.
Everything of mine that ever got published, (a doctoral thesis or 2, a couple of books on arthistory and a bunch of articles on different aspects of the history of Christianity) was all written in Dutch and practically all of it is long out of print. None of it had ever anything that could be described as a large printrun.
To be honest none of it was truly uplifting and most of it was rather specialistic.
To give an example. I've done an article on the history and meaning of this particular tainted glass window.

I doubt anybody around here cares about vanity glass in lead windows created for the Roman Catholic labour movement in the Netherlands.

Yes, I have 24 books published in the Civil War.

Not available at Lifeway, but they are available at the National Park Service bookshops.

I am planning a history of our association for this fall, when the 100th annual session is over. The history is already written except for the last few pages to discuss the next session.

I have also got a small reprint business, which has some baptist historical texts available in reprint. New River Books SOme that might be of interest are David Benedicts 1813 History of the Baptists, and part of his 1848 History of the Baptists.

    I have published two books:

    * Forgotten History of the Western People: From the Earliest Origins.

    * Impossible Theology: The Christian Evolutionist Dilemma

Both of these are available from Amazon and many other outlets. Impossible Theology is also available at Christian bookstores. See my book orders page:

When I finish my D.Min. dissertation, I hope to have it published. The whole program is geared to that end. Gordon-Conwell, Revival and Reform.

I am glad you posted this. I was very close to signing a contract with a publishing company. After going over their contract, i realized they were Print On Demand.. which means they dont print a book until it is requested. The largest booksellers dont even carry their books because of this in some instances.. Also, they do not offer buy back on unsold books... so Waldenbooks..even if they stock an item from that publisher..will only stock 2 or 3 at most.
Those who have published books are going to know more about it than I do, but I have talked with a few publishers for first time writers.. (Vantage and Publish America) and I just backed out of it.
I had a book on the Holy Spirit Baptism and Gifts and then one on Introduction To American Sign Language.
The one I have now I think will be the definitive work for its subject and I dont want to drop it in the hands of the wrong people.
