Does anyone here play Warcraft III? I play it occasionally on battle.net, and it's a really fun game. I'm hoping to get the expansion pack, The Frozen Throne, the first day it comes out on July 1st. If anyone else is planning to get it, let me know!

Psa 101:1 [[A Psalm of David.]] I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing.
Psa 101:2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
Psa 101:3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; [it] shall not cleave to me.

Timothy, games like Warcraft III are not wicked. God was kind enough to grant me the power to separate fantasy and reality. The sorcery and magic in games like Warcraft is fantasy. I enjoy playing the game, but it's not as if I enjoy or condone such things in real life.

Usually, I find that the first ones to condemn video games are those that haven't played them. Have you played WCIII, or any other games for that matter?

yes. i've played doom, duke nukem, warcraft 1 & 2, quake, and diablo all the way through. i've played many other games, but not to completion. i actually purchased WCIII but felt bad playing it and stopped.

    why did jesus say this?

    Matthew 5:28
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

perhaps because our thought lives matter. also consider:

    1Chronicles 28:9
And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.

    Romans 1:21
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

    2Corinthians 10:5
    Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

it is wrong to sit around pretending to break commandments, in this case the prohibitions against witchcraft (though i have other issues with this game too).

There's no such thing as "pretending" to break commandments; you either do so or you don't. If my character kills a ghoul in Warcraft III, I didn't break the "thou shalt not murder" commandment.

That said, I'd say Duke Nukem is a lot worse than Warcraft III in terms of content. If I had a 10-year-old kid, I'd let him play WCIII, but not Duke Nukem. Plus WCIII is a lot more fun. [IMG]

i agree, i don't play any computer games anymore where i have to pretend to break commandments.

so, either one commits adultery or one doesn't? why then did jesus recognize adultery in the heart as a sin? after all, one isn't "really" committing adultery when one looks at pornography, right?

also, regarding the commandment "thou shalt not covet" - what's the problem if i covet my neighbor's wife if i don't have an affair with her? what's the problem with coveting my neighbor's ox if i don't steal it?

our thoughts alone can be sinful. entertaining oneself by pretending to break god's commandments is wrong.

I made spare change reviewing computer games in seminary (and still do some of that - I go to E3 every year). I'm more of a turn-based guy, but I've enjoyed the Warcraft titles.

On the Turn Based side, the new Age of Wonders just arrived [IMG] .

Oh man - I wish my computer was powerful enough to do WCIII

But I still love my Diablo II

    A nice good Christian game

You dont have to kill, you can run around monsters, only fighting when they threaten to corner you or overwhelm you, which if yer good isnt all that often

I got to try the demo for WC3 - its an improvement in some areas, but a let down in others.
