This follows on the same question that was raised about Democrats in a previopus thread. The reason for this question is the similarity between far-right Christian Republican beliefs and those of the Pharisees. Self-professed Christian Republicans exhibit beliefs that integrate their religion and their politics. They ask whether a Democrat can possibly be a Christian because they disagree with their politics. They oppose government programs to help the poor and those without access to medical care. They stress cutting taxes for the elite.

    Does this describe a Christian?

It describes a Christian voting for Obama or Clinton :)

If I recall, we are going to have our politics and Christianity combined in the future (theocracy)

I know plenty of good republicans. I don't agree with them politically, but I don't think they are going to hell, at least not because they are republicans. Believe it or not, I even consider them friends, and we get along well, we just don't talk of politics.

Now who is being a judgmental Pharisee? I can't believe that you are taking yourself seriously. Please tell me that you aren't.

Since the Pharisees denied Jesus' deity, I resent very much the comparison, and if you want a serious conversation here, with anyone, you will apologize. I'm no longer in the republican party, but this is garbage.

I posted this to try to show just how ridiculous and presumptuous it is to claim to know someone's relationship with God is by their political affiliation. All Democrats are not alike just as all Republicans are not alike. Just because you support the Iraq war and don't want the government to spend money on the poor and those without medical insurance please don't question the Christianity of those who take the opposite position.

The other thread that I'm reacting to did just that but it was serious. There was no retraction like this. I'm not. Something very similar to this was said to me twice face to face.

Let me repeat. I DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT THE TITLE OF THIS THREAD SAYS.

No one will go to Hell because of his/her political beliefs. Salvation has nothing to do with politics.

That's only for the pre- and post-millennialists. We amillennialists are going straight to Heaven. :)

A very similar thread about Democrats only lasted about 3 pages. Judging by that there is no need to let this one stay open either.

It's amazing to me why Christians start fighting with their brothers and sisters when an election rolls around...

How I or anyone else votes is no one's business.

Nothing said on these boards is going to make me decide who I vote for.

These kinds of threads make me ill!
