Good link to read written by Dr. Saleem Almahdy about the Spiritual Battle between Islam & Christianity:

Don't be deceived! The True God is a God of Love: John 3:16 The Promise of Redeemer was promised thru Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Salvation from the True God comes through Grace.

Islam is a counterfeit religion - The Deceiving Spirit of Anti-Christ has come thru the line of Abraham & Ishmael. It has been going on thru the ages until the present time! This is a religion of works based upon a Moon God. Many of the stories in the Quran which are similar to Biblical OT stories were heard by Mohammed told to him by nomadic Jews when he lived in Mecca. They kicked him out as a false prophet. He went to Medina, wrote the Quran which he said was given to him by an angel (demonic spirit), gathered a group of followers and went back to Mecca and slaughtered the Jews there. That is why Medina and Mecca are considered the holy places in Islam.

If the Muslim God is not God based on the Trinity, then the Jewish God is not either, because they don't believe in a trinity. Somehow, I don't think that's the best road to go down.

There are several posts here that talk about Islam's view of God as false, compared to ours. I don't dispute that. However, there's a difference in them having an incorrect picture of God, and God being false. No, I stand behind what I said earlier. Allah is the same Almighty God as the God we know, even though their view of God is different from us.

Well, johnv, you are flat out wrong. But I don't suppose anything that is posted will change your mind.

The Promise of Redeemer to come was given since Genesis and fall of mankind. There are prophecies of Messiah all thru the OT. (Jesus) Isaiah 53 is but one of many promises of Redeemer, Messiah. The OT saints received Salvation by following the laws and offering sacrifices with a forward view of the Redeemer to Come, the Cross. Jews today are still awaiting the Promise of the Messiah, but that doesn't mean they worship a different God. Christians accept Jesus Christ as the Messiah. We receive Salvation from looking Back at the Cross. Jews also believe in God the Father. The Holy Spirit came upon the OT writers and inspired them. That pretty well covers the Trinity.

How can you explain the Personality & Attributes of God being so different if God and Allah are one and the same? Do you really think He has a plan of Salvation by Grace thru Jesus Christ for some of His followers, but a plan of salvation by works and following Muhammad for others?

Did you even read the links posted above? Dr. Alamody's link is extremely informative from a former Muslim.

Do you realize that Muslims in foreign countries are turning to Jesus Christ by the thousands? They are so hungry for truth! They realize they are following a false religion once they hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ, it is wonderful news to them, like a light bulb being turned on! Why would that be, if Allah and God are the same?

And why would Muslims declare jihad on Christians and Jews if we are all worshipping the same God? I'm not talking about something that happened centuries ago, I'm talking about now. Former Muslims who are now Christians are being martyred by Muslims in Muslim countries. Today. By the thousands. And they need our prayers.

Do you know in many Muslim countries you cannot even mention the Name of Jesus without penalty of death? Why is that, if Allah and God are one and the same? Doesn't even the Quran say Jesus was a prophet? Then why would that be, if Jesus is considered a prophet? Why would you be put to death for professing Jesus or mentioning His Name, if Allah and God are the same?

Americans who have not had genuine contact with Muslims overseas and Muslim countries do not understand this religion, the bondage and demonic spirits that bind these people. You, like so many others, are being fed the politically correct version of Islam that is here in America, and you are believing it. You are being deceived if you think God and Allah are the same. :(

    EagleLives911,

For all your admonitions about the differences between the religions, you do not address the issue of origins. We can look for ourselves at the differences between our religions and know that Islam is a false religion. But in your own post you recognize that Islam is handed down through Abraham and Ishmael. The Jewish origin of Islam is hard to deny. A thousand pages of lists of false doctrine cannot change that. On that, no one disagrees. Now again, if you want to say that the Jewish God is not ours, then I guess we have to go back and examine why we have the Old Testament in our Bibles.

I also disagree with the use of religious violence. It happens. People with different religious faiths tend to ignore their religious teachings and learn to hate and, if possible, persecute those of other faiths. Christians have had inquisitions and witch trials. Today, there is violence between Muslims and Christians in places like Indonesia and Muslims ans Hindus in India. Even among Christians there is violence. Look no farther than Ireland for a modern example.

Would call the god of baal the same as the God of the Jews? How about the god of the philistines the same as the God of Israel? allah is a heathen god and the God of our Christianity should not be linked to the god of muslims.

I believe it matters to God on how we address Him. There are several different names in the Bible that addresses God, the Israelites would address Him depending on the circumstances surrounding the call of our Lord.

Let me ask If your name was Tommy and I continued to call you Tony(even after I knew you, would you be offended)? We should use our fathers name wisely. Take not the name of the Lord in vain is not just reffering to swearing. It is refferibg to how we present ourselves before His humble grace.

OK, then we can discuss the origins of Islam. But first, let me clarify my previous post. I stated, "Islam is a counterfeit religion - The Deceiving Spirit of Anti-Christ has come thru the line of Abraham & Ishmael. It has been going on thru the ages until the present time! This is a religion of works based upon a Moon God. "

Let me elaborate...worship of the Moon God (roots of Islam), started much before Abraham & Ishmael! It was how Abram was raised and was passed down thru Ishmael, where as G-d, Yahweh, was passed down thru Isaac.

Let's start with where Abram (later named Abraham) came from & his background. The Bible states he came from Ur.

    http://www.thelionofjudah.org/rick/june_2001.htm

    Here's something else:

So, as you can see from the above info, NANNA, the God/Godess of UR, the moon god, was the satanic god Abraham had grown up with & served, along with a bunch of other gods. Interestingly, the god Baal and Molech, derive their roots from these moon gods and Egyptian sun god, Ra, as well. The moon god started out being a fertility god based on the lunar cycle. Interestingly, child sacrifice was part of their worship. In addition, I read one source that cited excavations at ancient Babylon discovered canibalism....Baal was the god of Canaan, as well...hence the word canaan-baal, i.e., canibal.

Sadly, today, Islamic radicals sacrifice their children to jihad. Satan has been the same thru the ages, a deceiver and a liar!

Christians need to know the truth.

So why does all of this matter?

    http://www.geocities.com/queball23/ShowLetter.html

Idolatry / adultery are the same to the One True God. Have tried to give links for more info on this subject. Sorry this is such a long post!

    Thanks for the reply EagleLives911!

That was what I was looking for. I'll have to do a little digging to see if I agree or not. This debate too often falls into the "Ick Factor" where people do not even want to consider the possibility of a link because what they know of the other's beliefs are so offensive to them. I was tempted to hint a little more explicitly in my previous post what I was looking for, but you presented a logical argument without it.

One thing to think about is that a lot of skeptics think that our beliefs are only a retelling of the stories of Baal, Dionysus, Horus, Buddha, Zooraster, etc. I am not at all saying that I buy that, but just pointing out that some throw the same charge against Christians.

UTEOTW, what I appreciate about your questions is that I had to do further research & in doing so, brushed up on what I already knew & learned a couple of things, as well.

Here's what I found most interesting: We Christians view Abraham primarily in light of what the Scripture says about him. In 52 years, I have NEVER heard it preached or discussed in SS or classes about Abraham's specific background, specific living conditions, pagan worship & type, etc., such as the child sacrifice. We tend to view him as a nomad. When in reality, he came from a very cosmopolitan civilization, running water, indoor plumbing, etc. and Abraham's family was well off. For him to leave the creature comforts would have been quite a big deal. It also helps me to remember Lot's wife, how she left everything too, but then settled in Sodom & had it all again, making it doubly hard on her to uproot again! (We women like our creature comforts.) [IMG]

So then I think about when God called him to sacrifice Isaac. Mt. Moriah is also the Temple Mount, also was a threshing floor (didn't realize for years how "layered" all of the Biblical history is as far as places & events). But anyway Abraham is referred to as a great man of faith, even in the NT. So with this pagan child sacrifice in his background, could he have questioned to himself something like..."Yahweh is the true God. Yet He asks me to sacrifice my son, just as we did back in Ur. So is He really any different?" or something like that. I mean the humanness of him might have had that fleeting thought.

Anyhow, it kind of adds another dimension to what we know about Abraham when we know from whence he came. Thanks for your questions & making me dig deeper. [IMG]

As I understand it, Allah is simply the Arabic name for God.

So, it's just like in America, some people know God and use His name properly and with knowledge; others mis-use His name, or serve someone who they mistakenly think to be Him.

Same over there. An Arabic speaking Christian refers to God as Allah. A Muslim mistakenly refers to Allah when in fact he serves someone else who he calls by the same name.

    Is Allah God? Absolutely not!

The God of the bible (Elohim) is both masculine and plural. "Allah" is singular and neuter.

Prior to the epileptic seizures suffered by Muhammad which were explained away as "visions" the Sabeans worshiped the moon god who, they believed, married the sun goddess who bore him three daughters, named Al-lat, Al-uzza, and Manat. These "daughters of god" were later elevated to the position of idols. This moon god was called Al ilah, which later was corrupted into Allah (the symbol of Islam to this day is still the crescent moon). Al ilah was just one of 360 such idols in the Kabah in Mecca. In the early 50s a pre-Islamic temple was excavated in Palistine. Two statues of Al ilah were found, including the crescent moon carved on his stomach, proving that Al ilah was a pre-Islamic idol.

There are two theories on how Al ilah became the "one god" is Islam. The first is that Muhammad needed the backing of the most powerful tribe in Arabia, which happened to worship Al ilah, so he began "preaching" that Al ilah (Allah) was the one true god. The other theory is that Muhammad was in the temple praying to the 360 idols when he suffered a seizure, and when he awoke his arm was pointing toward Al ilah (Allah) and he took that as a divine sign that Al ilah (Allah) was the one true god.

Allah is not the God of the bible. Allah is singular and neuter, has no son, and bears no relationship at all to the LORD God Jehovah of the bible.

How can it be the same God if their god's attributes are not what the Bible says our God is?
You can call any false god anything, even GOD or Jesus , but that doesn't mean thats who they are. No matter what you call a false god, it is still a false god.

    DocCas (or anyone),

    Help clear this up.

First of all, it is absolutely clear that the "Allah" worshipped by Muslims is NOT the God of the Bible, the One True Almight Triune God.

So, that's not the question, at least in my mind.

My understanding, based only on a discussion with an Arabic Christian friend, is that "Allah" is simply the word used as God's name in Arabic (see my last post for the implications).

I took his word for it, but is he, or is he not correct? In other words, if you spoke Arabic, and were saved, what name would you call the True God in your Arabic tongue?

Hi PA Jim! We missed you. Welcome back. We were all wondering where you went! [IMG]

Anyway, I wrote extensively on the previous page re: Allah, origins of Allah, etc. with wonderful links about all of this. The one link from Dr. Saleem Almahdy is especially good. (It is a cached page, so scroll on down past the pic.)

    http://216.239.39.100/search?q=cache:Cf6joegRULIC:www.persecution.com/news/index.cfm%3Faction%3Darticle%26newsid%3D141+Dr.+Saleem+Almahdy&hl=en&ie=UTF-8

I have found in researching that True Born Again Christians (former Muslims) usually know the difference between Allah and God and if they know the roots of where Allah came from would not call the True God by that Name! If they using "allah" it is because they don't know any better as far as Islamic history / Allah / etc. But many (especially American or Westernized) Muslims do not know the history of their religion. :(

Hello all. I am new to the board. I voted cautiously in the poll because although I have read an explanation of Islam and watched a good documentary on the Prophet's life, I have not yet read the Koran.

How many in this forum have read the Koran?
    COMMENT:
In the documentary film I noted that a professor of ancient religions at Damascus University said that there is evidence in the ancient Mesopotamian and Babylonian texts that ALLAH is the name of the god of the Arabian penninsula.

One of the questions bothered me because it said 'No' Allah is not the same God as the bible "because Allah is a god of hate". Well that spoiled my choice. I would have voted that Allah is not the same god, but I am not so sure that "hate" is the right word. It is true that there is a spirit of hatred toward all who refused to 'submit' to Allah and his prophet. But YHWH also "hated" many of those tribes who were not Israel and commanded Israel to destroy them. So in the OT and in Islam believers are taught to love their neighbour as themselves and to "hate" their enemy.

Jesus tended to reverse this view. IN Jesus YHWH sought to reveal Himself anew to mankind. To Moses God revealed Himself as YWHW ("I AM THAT I AM). And Israel embraced this singular view of God even though as another commentator on the board has pointed out there are plenty of references in the OT to the plurality of God in His expressions. Jews in our times have tended to ignore this because they cannot explain it. Christians can explain it because they have received the revelation of God in Christ Jesus, who "baptizes in water and the Spirit". Although when christians judge the "outsider" without love, they "hate" and deny the command of Jesus not to judge (condemn) which is a sin. And I believe (but have not read it) that the Koran teaches believers to hate those who refuse to submit to Islam.

"God is love" says the apostle John 4:16

Again the question: how many have read the Koran?

As I do not have sufficient knowledge of Arabic, I have not read the Qur'an (which can only be read in Arabic) but I have read "The Meaning of The Holy Qur'an" - an English translation of the Arabic, by Abdullah Yusuf Ali, published by Amana Publications, and make a pretty in-depth study of it. It is sitting right here on my desk. Why do you ask?

Still a valid question that goes begging. Considering in European languages, we use God, Gott, Dieu, Dios, Bog(Russian), ect. All of which are used in reference to the True and Living God. So, what would and should an Arabic speaking believer properly use?

If you were an Arabic speaking born-again Christian, you would call Him God, not Allah. But to be totally proper, you would call Him Yahweh.

And if all of us English speaking Christians were proper, we would call Jesus by His Hebrew Name which is Yeshua. [IMG]

And yes, I have read a lot of the Quran. The friendly peaceful parts were written during Muhammad's stay in Mecca when he had few followers. The jihad parts of killing all the infidels were written when he had more followers in Medina. Then he abbrogated the first peaceful part (cancelled it out), and he and his followers went back to Mecca and slaughtered all who rejected him which was probably the first of the jihads. There exists today in some circles the debate of whether part of the Quran was abbrogated or not. The moderate Muslims say it was not. The radicals/fundamentalists say it was.

So I ask you, Does GOD (The Real God) change and does His Word Change? I think not. Case closed.

To DocCas: thank you for your comment and for the information that you gave earlier. Why did I ask how many on board has read the Qu'ran? Mainly because the questions we are discussing are extremely important ones. Whoever framed the QUESTIONS, in my opinion, was presumptive and put forward a poor choice of words i.e. calling Allah 'a god of hate' leaving no room for other issues of defining him and also affecting my answer to question #1. I could not condemn Allah on the basis that the framer of questions gave.

So I wonder how many have based their opinions of examination of the SOURCE of the discussion. You obviously have, so has EagleLIves911. I have read 'Towards Understanding ISLAM' by Abul Ala Mawdudi and realise immediately that in order to be properly informed and to exercise spiritual discernment one must go to the source text: the Qu'ran itself. This is my goal and in the meantime I am grateful for the conversation.

I believe, but cannot prove, that our proper understanding and consensus of the meaning of Islam is essential for Christians living in our time. I am begining to see that Mohammed is conceiveably The False Prophet declared in the Book of Revelation. Since his beginnings around AD600 his influence has expanded and now, within the last generation, is beginning to form a global force which is fast becoming our invisible enemy. Therefore, 'Know thy enemy'

    TO: UTEOW

your quote earlier:"Islam, like Christianity is developed from Judaism" and "Both Judaism and Islam both have incomplete and perverted views of God"

I think you are grossly mistaken in your assumptions. To be really brief,

    1. Islam was revealed by the angel Gabriel to Mohammed. I believe this was a deception of Satan who chose a descendant of Ishmail to create a false universal idea of God. The revealer STOLE from Judaism and from Christ.THis is the character of Satan. He is a liar and the father of lies (as our Lord declares). THe Arabs are descended from Abraham through Ishamail but ISLAM is not. It was received by Mohammed about 3,000 years after Abraham.

2.Judaism's view of God is not perverted; it is partial. Veiled. And Christianity did descend from Judaism. Islam was a completely separate event that stole from both true religions to create an image of God to compete with the true God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The Qu'ran 3:19 says "Lo! The religion with Allah is Islam" Therefore Allah is not YWHW nor is he related to Jesus. He is a thief and a very dangerous one. It is even dangerous, I believe, to say this to a Muslim. And it will become more so.

So we must be diligent and add to our knowledge of Islam, and so be vigilent keeping our lamps alight, "for the night is coming when no man will be able to work".
