    From this Church's site:

    Glendale Baptist Church

    Under the 'Theology' link:
    Baptism by immersion mentioned (check)
    Lord's Supper (check)
Name on the Building 'Baptist' (check)

As far as I understand what makes a Baptist a Baptist, these guys are Baptists!

No longer an SBC church! Goes to show what type of theology was taught here (SEBTS) as recently as 15 years ago.

    Does the SBC define 'Baptists'?

No, did I say that somewhere? I would gladly change it if I did. [IMG] I am just stating the fact that it is no longer a SBC church, the SBC dissolved their ties.

    In Christ,
    Neal

Ah, I wasn't sure about the comment since this thread is about Baptists in general, not just SBC.

I'll take all the silence as agreement that this church is in deed Baptist.

Kind of takes the wind out of all the Episcopalian threads doesn't it?

Why does a Catholic give a hoot about this specific church. I think you only want to degrade our denomination.

I don't see that it matters much. They are apostate, and arguing whether or not they are still Baptist is beside the point. Their actions show that they have denied the faith. That makes them, by the best definition, a FALSE church.

Diane, don't you find it interesting that some find it so fun to start such threads about nonbaptist churches but then are either silent or offended when the same is pointed out in Baptist churches?

T2U, no, I don't find it interesting because I don't go to Catholic, Methodist, J/W, LDS or any other denominational site. I would NEVER go to a Catholic site and bad mouth Catholics! That would be rude.

The threads started on this board with the sole purpose of ridiculing nonbaptists are not rude?

And are you not suposed to be ready to give an answer?

Take the "husband of one wife" thing. Over and over I have heard baptists criticize Catholic priests for remaining unmarried. And then what do I find out?

    Baptists have women pastors!

Even the SBC has church membership that have women pastors!

I am sorry if you find my pointing out the hypocrisy to be rude.

The SBC is not a denomination. It is a convention. That's what makes the churches autonomous. It has been since its inception in 1845. The SBC came about over the issue of slavery. The northern Baptists had abolished slavery whereas many in the south were slave owners.

I guess there is enough degradation everywhere. I have found those who spend their time on much of that does not seem to have much time for winning people to Jesus.

The real issue is; "Whose living for Jesus Christ because of our life?"
