These two stories are in their genesis along with the NSA domestic spying story.

    James Moore story,Payback?Incompetence? or Mistake?

snippet:This week last year I was preparing for a trip to Ohio to conduct interviews and research for a new book I was writing. My airline tickets had been purchased on line and the morning of departure I went to the Internet to print out my boarding pass. I got a message that said, "Not Allowed." Several subsequent tries failed. Surely, I thought, it's just a glitch within the airline's servers or software.

I made it a point to arrive very early at the airport. My reservation was confirmed before I left home. I went to the electronic kiosk and punched in my confirmation number to print out my boarding pass and luggage tags. Another error message appeared, "Please see agent."

I did. She took my Texas driver's license and punched in the relevant information to her computer system.

"I'm sorry, sir," she said. "There seems to be a problem. You've been placed on the No Fly Watch List."

    "Excuse me?"

    Amanpour?NBC?

Let me make the Amanpour link more readable.

    Amanpour Unaware Of Eavesdropping
Responding to this post, a CNN spokesperson released the following statement:

"Neither CNN nor Christiane Amanpour is aware of alleged eavesdropping by the government on Ms. Amanpour and we are unable to confirm this story. We are looking into it."

    > Thursday, 12:59am: NBC has reason to believe she was spied on...

    > Wednesday, 9:36pm: NBC said it removed the transcript reference to "further continue our inquiry..."

    > Wednesday, 5:47pm: Was Christiane Amanpour eavesdropped upon? Why did NBC edit its transcript?...

Actually I am more concerned about the large number of professing Christians who spend most of their time worrying about political/state matters. We need to spend our time witnessing the Gospel, preaching the Word, and making disciples. We don't need to waste our time, energy, and money on any form of politics. It is a waste of time.

So am I concerned about the actions of the Bush administration? No. If you read your Bible you will see that we are heading towards big brother and, despite your efforts, it will happen (Rev 1:19). Is that fatalism? No. God's Word has spoken. We must come to the realization that politics is something we can't change. However people's eternal destiny is something we can help change. Stop wasting your time on political matters.

    Martin.

If "politics" is such a waste of time, why are you posting here?

There is always a possibility that you are mistaken about how future events turn out. Therefore, to engage in politics, I think, is both necessary and interesting.

=="If politics is...a waste of time"? That is like saying the earth "might be round". Experience and theology show us that politics is a waste of time. Think about why Jesus, Paul, nor Peter were politically active. Think about that. Think about how many professing Christians go "off course" because of politics. They start supporting heretics, compromising the Gospel, and compromising Biblical teaching in the name of gaining ground in politics. The church is not called to politics the church is called to the Gospel and making disciples. So of course politics is a waste of time for the church. We have a much, much higher purpose.

As for why I post here? Why not? My post(s) reflect my view that Christians involved in political activism are in error and are wasting precious time and resources. Hopefully someone will read what I write and pick up their Bible and see that politics is not the calling of the church.

==While there are many different eschatological views in the church there is one common factor (for those who believe the Bible) : Things are not going to get better until Jesus comes. Period. How do we prepare for that great event? By preaching the gospel, making disciples, and growing the church. Politics plays no role in any of that. Politics, in fact, is a worldly distraction from those things. Don't believe me? Look at the Christian leaders who no longer mainly preach the Gospel because they are so busy in the "culture war". Actually the "culture war" is a spiritual war and Christian leaders who try to fight it with fleshly weapons will lose just like the lost (conservatives) people will. Spiritual war must be fought with Spiritual weapons. And that does not go over well on the political scene does it? Nope. Politics has caused them to move away from the calling of the church. Tragic. How many souls will end up in hell because a preacher, or Christian co-worker was too busy playing politics to witness to that person (in word and deed)? How many people will end up in hell because they believed that Christianity, Jesus, and the Bible were for republicans? How many "conservatives" will end up in hell because the Christian political activist was too busy agreeing with them and thus never got around to witnessing to him/her?

Our job is to preach the Gospel and make disciples.

    In Christ,
    Martin.

Not so. There are Bible believing Christians who do not share your pessimism.

I don't believe that Bush is using this surveillance in an inappropriate manner at this point. But the opportunity is there.

BTW, while Bush has opportunity, it appears that the Clinton administration used it in wiretapping their opponents.

And before you go off on the source, they cite "60 Minutes"... you libs should have no problem swallowing their info.

==Well what does the Bible say?

And again a few verses later:

One could look at many, many other simular verses that teach the same thing. In fact one could probably write a book there are so many verses on that. The Bible paints a very dark picture about the last days of this age. If you believe that is "pessimism" than that's too bad. The Bible paints the picture and I am not free to ignore or change the picture it paints just so I can be more "positive". This does in part prove my point about political activism.

    In Christ,
    Martin.

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of eschatological interpretations among Christians. I am not convinced that any of them are close to being accurate. I am content to leave it at Christ Jesus will return and bring this present heavens and earth to a close.

Martin , we as Christians who obey the rules of this board and the boards are moderated and our Dear Sovereign Abba Father is looking down and after this board ...we for the most part and
the majority of time are playing by the rules.

You might want to petition the owner of the board
to discontinue the political forum if you feel
so deeply convicted but as long as he is kind
enough to provide and open this venue then I praise a Sovereign God who understands all and has mercy on us as we try and find our way in this difficult world. We are all well aware of the sharp elbows and positioning to win points
in a debate...we accept that we take full responsibility for it..this forum is well balanced and you see excellent point/counter points being made...I personally believe it makes the Baptist Board a popular place on the web along with other forums.

You by all means are welcome to invite us over to your site or a prayer site or a theological site so we can join you there, but if you have nothing to contribute here and it bothers you so
much ...go away and pray and feel the peace of God that surpasses all understanding.

In the Spirit of gentle admonishment
    Sincerely Aslanspal

I trust my government and the President of the United States. I am glad they are keeping close tabs on anyone who is trying to subvert our democracy and Judeo-Christian faiths.

They can wire tap my phone, computer or from a van a block from my house. I have nothing to hide.

Let's not forget there are more groups than the Taliban who are poised to destroy our nation. We need to give our government all the tools they need to protect us. First they must go though a judge so the government will be questioned as to whether it is necessary or not to trace the calls or Email communications.

I always figure that the leadership of our nation know more about what is going on in our world and nation than us.

I say to my President, "Do whatever you need to do to protect this last and greatest bastion of human freedom. Whatever it takes to secure our nation-- do. Get your job done properly as President of the United States. We stand with you Mr. President."

Am I concerned Bush may be abusing his powers ?
    No. No. No.
Not because I trust Bush, but because I trust God who sets up kingdoms and dismantles them.

Besides, I've lived thru 15 years of abused powers and found that the Biblical prescription to live peaceably among men is a sure preserver.

Ain't our country, folks, this world ain't, we're just passing through.

Well Ray, why don't we just have random police searches in our homes. Let's just allow the police to come over to your house any time they want to and search your house for any reason. After all, you could have connections to terrorism.

Nothing to hide here. Not hiding terrorism tools, not hiding drugs, not hiding illegal aliens, not hiding any contraband, nothing. Christians who live transparent lives have nothing to fear from a police search. The only way to root out illegal aliens & terrorist groups in our country & possible hidden nukes is to do door-to-door police searches, unannounced, of course.
