Bro Curtis

That is the worst thing I have read on the BB since I have been a member.

Edit your post IMMEDIATELY!!

NEVER resort to calling innocent children that "word"

Actually, according to the Bible definition of that word, it is an illegitimate child... a child born out of wedlock.

If Curtis is speaking of children born out of wedlock, then he is not wrong when using the word he used.

Calling innocent children names over the sins of their parents isn't nice.

Yeah, you've been the epitome of nice, here, ain't you ? The word is legit, like it or not.

How's come nobody will answer my question ? If'n we regulate how many kids two parents, who can obviously support them without my help, can have, how come nobody wants to regulate the welfare moms ?

You have no authority to tell me these things. And I'm not the type who intimidates easily.

Wanna take a shot at an answer ?

There is no such thing as an "illegitimate" child, although some parents could certainly bear that label.

Are you saying there are no children ever born out of wed-lock?

Main Entry: illegitimate child
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: child born out of wedlock
Synonyms: bar sinister, bastard, bastard child, bend sinister, by-blow, child born without benefit of clergy, love child, nullius filius, out-of-wedlock child, whoreson

I think we should regulate the number of illigitimate children they can receive funds for.

Yup. Just because some mommy's & daddy's feel it's OK to not support their offspring doesn't mean I should.

But it's obvious to me that some Christians would rather see welfare moms have kids than people who can actually deal with them.

If one is able to convince others that a child is supposed to raise his or her younger siblings it frees the parents conscience of the fact that they are shirking responsibilities.

I respectfully disagree. It teaches the children how to raise their own families. This kind of teaching is commanded in the Bible. The older women are to teach the younger women and that's what these parents are doing. Plus, they are teaching their sons not to be slobs so their wives don't have to pick up after them all the time.

At least this family is paying it's own way.

We are all paying for the 'illegitimate welfare' babies, and they are most certainly not being reared in a Christian home... :tear:

Kudos to the Dugger family! Raising the next generation of devout Christians. :applause:

I notice one thing in that verse you quoted, Sue...

The older women are to teach the younger women. It does not say the older children are to teach the younger children.

Children are to be taught by adults, not other children.

Also, the verse you gave is dealing with teaching in the Church. It is not speaking of familial teaching.

Also, the Word of God says 'Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.' It does not say 'Children obey your brothers and sisters...'

It does say to respect your elders.

If a kid gets hurt & has to go to the hospital while dad's at work, why shouldn't the eldest be given the responsibility to assume temporary control ?

Children are obeying the Lord by submitting to the authority the parents have placed over them...whether it be school teachers, babysitters, Grandma and Grandpa, or older siblings.

Thank You Bro. Williams

Rufus: I dare say, you are a blessing on these boards. So often I come away wondering what people are thinking, only to realize they apparently aren't. I don't know if it lack of Bible study, solid preaching, or being conformed to this world, but it is astonishing some of the worldly themese and thoughts that are poured into this board from professing Christians. Thanks you brother, keep up the fight, amen to the posts.

Thank You Bro.Williams for the Biblical stand you are taking here and on so many threads in the BB. This statement sums up so much so what happens here. I too am astounded at some of the things I read. People actually professing to what rock bands they like or the use of condoms in reference to a lady first and foremost, and a sister in Christ to boot.

Thank you for not doing so, it has inspired me greatly. I pray my home schooled children hold to there convictions as you do. And if that means I have to start a cult, I guess I will. If we all truly lived biblically, people would think we were. Anyway...
Continue to be consistient and stand for the faith. Many blessings. :applause: :wavey:

Very interesting....may I suggest next time you PM this very private message?

Of course, I feel awkward reading your mushy letter, especially since you have stated you are astounded at my words with regards to a woman with 17 kids & the suggested use of birth control (c*ndom). I am not a real christian for doing so.
You are also astounded when someone states they like a particular type of rock band.

You state you are so bent on your home schooled children holding to another BBer's views you are willing to start a cult if needed.

Poor Poor YOU ... and the very few REAL CHRISTIANS like yourself who must put up with such heathens like myself.

Some people are soo in love with themselves...

That they have the philosophy "Us four and no more" :1_grouphug: (OK, 5)
A symptom of a cult is the idea that everyone else is wrong, and only those that think the way we do are right...

Luke 18:11-14 KJV
(11) The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men [are], extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
(12) I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
(13) And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as [his] eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
(14) I tell you, this man went down to his house justified [rather] than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted

Because children (Even teens) have no input regarding medical care choices once the child has arrived at the Hospital. To proceed with care, Doctors often need the consent of the parent, or whoever is legally designated in filling that role.
When my child stays overnight with a few of his friends, I have a note with my signature which allows the parents to make these choices, having input regarding my child's medical care. Even a note from the parent can't give a child this type of authority.

Hiya Joe.

I meant the oldest kid would assume control of the household while mom brings the kid in for care. It happened to me, all the time. Several times I had to watch my brothers & sisters while some emergency took place.
