Ok, I do not mean to offend anyone here but I thought this was hilarious.

This is the Arminian version of "Amazing Grace".

    Arminian Grace
(To the tune of Amazing Grace)

    Arminian "grace!"
    How strange the sound,
    Salvation hinged on me.
    I once was lost
    then turned around,
Was blind then chose to see.

    What "grace" is it
    that calls for choice,
    Made from some good within?
    That part that wills
    to heed God's voice,
    Proved stronger than my sin.

    Thru many ardent gospel pleas,
I sat with heart of stone.
But then some hidden good in me,
    Propelled me toward my home.

    When we've been there
    ten thousand years,
    Because of what we've done,
    We've no less days
    to sing our praise,
    Than when we first begun.

    LOL!! That is hilarious.

There are also so many verses we could change to fit free will.

"For all are called but few choose."

"For by free will choice to receive grace we are saved through our own faith, and that is of ourselves, not of God, lest God boast."

"Someone will say to me, 'Then why does He still blame us, for who resists His will?' You do, unless you consent of your own free will to stop resisting and accept His offer of grace."

"The Father has given me all, but only those who come to me of their own free will I will in no way cast out."

"All men can come to me, because it is given to all men by the Father."

"But you are not my sheep, because you do not believe"

"And all who believed were appointed to eternal life."

    And so on...

Since I'm not arminian, I find it pretty funny.

On the flip side, it's sad to imagine what the calvinists' lyrics would be for "Jesus Loves Me", and "Jesus Loves the Little Children"

"Jesus loves me, this I think, for my perseverance doesn't stink"

"Jesus loves me, this I don't know, why? He hates who He chooses so"

"Jesus loves the elect children, not the reprobate children of the *world*"

"Jesus hates the reprobate children, *all* the children of the *world*"

*insert meaning of choice to support theology

I think it's funny, not sad. But what's even funnier is that you would pose this parody as if the song "Jesus loves the little children" was in the same class as "Amazing Grace".

Guys, I love all Christians in Christ regardless of theological belief but I don't believe OSAS. However I don't believe that my salvation is all me so to speak. The Holy Spirit had to convict me. The Bible teaches us that no one can come to Christ unless the Spirit draws. I don't believe OSAS but I don't believe it's all me. Thanks and Happy Good Friday and Easter.

How much of you is credited for your salvation then? I don't think your salvation had much to do with you at all. Had it been up to you as a lost person, your totally depraved free will choice would have sent you straight to Hell.

    Here is another verse:

    My poor, dead neighbor,
    Such a fool!
Didn't choose from sin to flee
    I had the sense
    to change my heart
But he's not smart -- like me!

    lol!

If a five year old can understand the meaning of Amazing Grace, all the power to them! Not sure how many there are, but I could probably count them on my hand.

I know the poem is just a joke but it is kind of disheartening to see other theological belief get made fun of. After all we are all Christians. Obviously there are going to be many, many people in Heaven who didn't believe OSAS just as there are going to be many people who did. We all need to love each other and agree sometimes to simply disagree. I will add before I finish that there is a fine line at times when it comes to all Christian denominations as some are so liberal that it insults the name of Christ. But conservative, God fearing Christians are to be loved and respected regardless if they belive OSAS or not. Thanks.

Of course you do. Why on earth would you deny it? Is there something wrong with skewering Arminianism and seeking to instill revulsion for it in the hearts of all?

It is just as I said months ago in the "Jesus hates reprobate children" discussion: just admit it and go on.

</font>[/QUOTE]You can not possibly know my heart nor what my intetions are, so don't even try too. I have many Arminian freinds whom I love dearly even though I disagree with them. Many of them would laugh with me at this parody even though they would disagree.

Well, you offended me and I suspected that you were bright enough to foresee it. Was I wrong?

I don't like being accused of heresy. Now, if there had been some actual humor in the mockery, I might have laughed myself. Hymn lines like "Blasted assurance, Jesus was mine" or "There's a new name written down in pencil and it's mine, I hope it's mine" or "Every other day with Jesus" actually show a little talent beyond just reiterating the same old insults in Common Meter.

I have no objection to being offended. Anyone is welcome to offend me any time he feels like it. He can misrepresent Arminianism ad infinitum without hearing a peep from me.

So long as you're clear, consistent, and honest, you have my respect. Say it loud, don't waffle, never apologize.

Well if you were offended I apologize. Just as I would expcet you to do for accusing me of not being very bright!

Nobody accused you of heresy! You see shadows were there are none.

Those examples are no different than this, besides, I have laughed at "Calvinism songs" too. Lighten up a little it will do you some good.

But it is not a misrepresentaion- though not all Arminians may think that way, if they follow the logical end of their theology this is what they will come up with. For that reason I began studying the Scriptures in fresh light and by God's grace realized that I was wrong.

Repeat: I have no objection to being offended. It's a free country.
    You wrote:

    "What "grace" is it
    that calls for choice,
    Made from some good within?"

    and

"But then some hidden good in me,
    Propelled me toward my home."

Of course you accused us of heresy. Quit waffling and say it loudly.
There. Now don't backtrack and don't say you don't mean to offend us. Just make your accusations and insults and stand by them.
