Well you see the trend now dont you? Obama tells you to trade in your old clunker for a new Chev (Govt Motors) & then they force you to pay an exorbitant amount so you have to go to the Banksters for a loan....that they strangle you on at extremely high interest because they can do it now.....so you go bankrupt from that. What a con game! Then they foreclose on your house.

More "news" revisionism by the liberal media machine trying hard to cover up the arrogance and condescension of Obama.

If he tries this it would be a good time to remind voters that when Obama came into office in January of 2009, gas prices were $1.79 per gallon.

You're right - it's the oldest political game in the book. Resolve the crisis that you yourself created and you're a hero. Everyone forgets that you created it to begin with.

This reminds me of Carter telling us all to stop complaining about being cold and just put on another sweater. It made him seem out of touch with reality, which was one of the things that cost him the election.

I think Obama forgets two things:

First, as somebody pointed out, it simply isn't practical for many of us to drive small cars. I could switch over to one of Obama's electric cars, but the pathetic range between charges aside, none of them can haul a horse trailer, let alone the four horse trailers we need.

We also repair and "flip" boats. How am I supposed to bring sails back all the way from Annapolis in one of Obama's little wind up cars?

We have eight children. Is he really saying that it would be more efficient to drive two cars, rather than the one vehicle we can fit everybody in now?

The second is that Obama assumes that we're like the European cities he wants to remake America to look like. We're not. In most European countries, jumping on the train or bus is no big deal. They're not spread out at all, so public transportation is very practical.

Well, have you ever been to West Texas??? How about North Dakota? There are many places in the West and Midwest and the South where public transportation would simply not work, where people have to drive.

Where we live, it's an hour just to go grocery shopping. What bus or train route could make money in our area?

This is the way progressives work. If they can't pass a law to make you do something, then they'll legislate by making policies that make it so inconvenient or expensive to do whatever it is they're trying to stop you from doing, that you'll just give up and do it their way.

Don't worry, the Republicans will continue to trash the economy and Obama will be the only candidate who CAN'T be elected.

I hope you are correct. President Obama will be reelected if the economy is doing well; he won't be if the economy is struggling.

The republican as well as the democrat party has no regards for the people. Their only regard is to be in office and prey on the desires of certain people to get into office and then they dumb their so called values..
It is time for a new party of the people and to boot these irresponsible corrupt politicians out putting term limits on them of two terms as well as setting their salaries and benefits instead of them setting their own.

I had '88 3 cylinder Chev that got an average of 48 MPG over 100,000 miles. Apparently no one wanted them because the next year or so it was sold with a 4 cylinder and then went out of production.

>You ignore that for most people buying gas is a necessity.

You backed yourself into that corner.

>Most of us drive to work.

That is your choice. We live in a free country. Are there not places to live within bicycle distance of your job site?

>When the price of gas goes up there is not much choice other than to pay it.

Bicycle, bus, motorcycle, car pool . . . . I commuted on a motorcycle for most of 30 years, rain, (little bit of) snow. Honda 360, 60 MPG. CX500, 50 MPG.

>BTW - why is the government so unconcerned about the rising cost of gas but they constantly hold hearings whenever the cost of cable TV goes up?

What do you propose? That the government subsidize the price of gas? You socialist, you. <G>
