I agree 100% with Philip. I have lived both. I was brought up in a "very" Southern Baptist family. My husband was Assembly of God. When we first married we did go to some Assembly of God churches. They are good people, that are Christians, but I cannot deal with all the emotion that is invloved, and of course there view on eternal security. For the last seven years, I have been married for 30, we have been in a Southern Baptist church. My husband now agrees 100% with the Southern Baptist beliefs. I cannot tell you how wonderful it felt to be back in a Southern Baptist church, I felt like I was finally home.
A little fact on emotion-Emotion is the most shallow part of a person, why would God deal with a person in their most shallow part? With emotion, you are up and down. It is so surface.

With emotions, one can be in heaven one minute and the depths of hell the next. When I get up in the morning and I forget to pray, I'm a devout atheist for about 20 minutes, until the blood pumps up to my brain. I am so glad God doesn't hold it against me...I hope.

Who are you going to believe, God or your fickle emotions?

Boring, Baptist boring, peace and assurance for this Baptist. Happy is an emotion. Joy is way down deep in your spirit. Maybe it is just me. - Reminds me of a song:
