Baptist Alternative to myspace

Hi Guys,
I am the owner of Big Baptist and I assure you that I will not be selling your email addresses, sending spam etc. I do not approve of dating sites and especially would not sell to them.

I am a Baptist pastor. I created the site because several young people in our church wanted to be able to create Myspace accounts, but their parents checked it out and didn't like the idea.

James, sorry not much going on yet. The site is only 4 or 5 days old so it will pick up as people start hearing about it. I am not sure why people have had trouble signing up. I'll look into that.

As for the usefullness of the site, one goal of the site is to try to bring unity to some of God's people. I don't know about you guys, but where I'm at everybody seems to be biting and devouring one another. Then you go to Myspace and the lion lays down with the lamb. I am not ecumenical by any means, but I do thing we should be able to get along. My hope is that this site will at least help a few to do that.

I am working on adding a feature that will churches to post a 1-2 minute audio welcome message, song, etc. along with their info in the church directory. They'll also have their on photo gallery, etc. Think about that. When people are looking for a church, they can read doctrinal statements, see affilliation, photos, and even hear from the church and get a map all in one place!

In the classifieds, if a church has a baptistry or pews that they do not need they can post it. Perhaps a church planter could use them.

The events list provide a way for people to get free advertisement for their special meetings.

As you can see, this site could become a great tool. I hope you will use it. Any input is appreciated.

 

Special thanks to all of you who have signed up so far. We're over half way to having our charter members list complete. In the future, we'll be having contests. For example, whoever brings the most new members will receive a new Bible, or gift certificate, etc. We'll offer a "best blog post this month", a "show yourself friendly" prize for having the most connections, etc.

We still have over 5,000 games to add to the arcade, all clean. I realize the site still has some bugs, but it is brand new. We're working to improve it daily. We want it wo be a place where the saints of God can come to be edified, share burdens, have fun, and just brag about Jesus!

Room for 10 more charter members

There is only room for 10 more charter members. When we get #100 we will begin a 2 week "refer a friend" contest with the winner receiving $100 in cash!

All recruits count. Even if you get them to sign up before the contest begins. Two weeks after we get our 100th member, we will check to see who has gotten the most people to sign up through the invite a friend feature. Whoever has the most will receive a fresh crisp $100 bill.
