I got 3 bulldogs that would rip that cat up in less than 10 seconds. Then my mutt would kill and eat the damnable thing for a snack and deliver it back to you in a hot steaming pile. But the bulldogs.....that's a breed that gots some attitude when provoked.

Remember, he's got a two-year-old Rott convinced he's Satan himself, so your bulldogs might not have as easy a time as you think.

Besides the lab/shepherd will probably jump into the fray, too.

You'd be bettin' wrong. Cat hating isn't something to put on and off like a cheap shirt. It's almost a DNA sort of thing. Let me give you an example or two. Here's the first: You walk out to get in the car and as you get closer you see the hood, windshield and roof covered with muddy little paw prints. If you say, "Aw, ain't that precious." you need to get some help. "I'm gonna kill that stupid cat!" is a natural reaction.

The second example is worse. Cats 'marking' their territory. MY porch, MY garage, MY house. Bad kitty!

As EWF pointed out, barn cats are the exception. You don't have to pretend to like them and they don't have to pretend to like you. Barn cats are working cats not like those prissy house cats that want $4 canned food served in a crystal bowl.

You have now hit upon the reason that I like cats and dogs. I grew up on a farm. We had barn cats, one in particular who really liked our barn, our family, and our border collie, Rex. She left her kittens with him during the day to go out and hunt, and he watched them! They'd climb all over him, and unless one of them started that "kneading" action before he laid down to nap on Rex's rib cage, he was perfectly fine with it all. Even then, he'd just poke the little critter with his nose so it would get off him. She brought him a mouse once. It really appeared to offend her when he sniffed at it and walked away. Weird, huh?

But I figured if she could keep the mice out of the corn, and get along with a dog and he could get along with her, cats can't be all bad.

And you know what? It was an object lesson for later in life.

We had an Australian Shepherd for 17 years. We also had a long-haired yeller creature named Stinky. We yell to Benny, "Get the kitty." and he tear off after the cat until Stinky could find a high place to hide. Benny got older and couldn't chase the cat any longer. By that time the cat was well trained. We'd yell, "Get the kitty." and the cat would take off like he was shot out of a cannon. Benny would lay on the coach and watch him go.

I had a hard time training my blue heeler to leave the chickens alone. But now that he's old, he'll only nip at the hens jumping over him.

Well, 50 are no longer members. And 39 are no longer active members. Mods, what qualifies as inactive?

So what do you all think? What's going to come first --a 2,010,000 post total --or a 87,000 thread total? I tend to lean toward the former. It's a matter of gaining 395 more posts vs. 42 more new threads.

So Rip...are things that slow where you are? :) Well, it beats watching paint dry.

    Oh, the excitement builds!

So from the period of March 3rd to March 18th 178 more threads were added and there was an increase of 3,460 more posts. That was just in a 12 day time frame. Now we need only 395 more posts and 42 more threads. So I am predicting that in the wee hours of April 29 EST we will achieve both goals. But I think the post total will be reached slightly faster than the thread total.

How do you want to celebrate?

Hmmm...just 32 threads and we will have a total of 87,000. And just 40 more posts(I have included this one) and we will reach 2,010,000. As I said, I think the post goal will be reached slightly before the thread goal. And I had predicted that both of these goals will be met in the wee hours of April 29th (EST). We shall see.

    Can you stand the excitement?

So this part(the post goal) of the equation is ahead of schedule a bit. Perhaps the thread goal will be reached in the wee hours of April 29th EST as I predicted.

    Some more useless info

Well, I was more than a day late when I predicted that the thread count would exceed 87,000 by the wee hours of April 29th EST. It's now at 87,006. I was sleeping when it crossed the barrier.

Rippon, I'm getting a little concerned for you. Do you need someone to talk too? :D Like, in English, or something? :)

We used to raise and sell Border Collies AND [briefly tried to] keep free range poultry, ha, hahaha. I tried every which way under the sun to train the supposed smartest dogs in the world to stop wallowing my chickens to death. As long as we were at home everything was cool. When we left the dogs would revert to their instincts and 'herd' the chickens, which ultimately resulted with the dogs forcibly restraining the chickens to do their will, and the chickens would panic and resist, and the Border Collies were dead set on imposing their will on the chickens, and, things would just keep spiraling downhill from there. It was never a mass bloodthirsty killing, just usually one at a time mostly wore out and exhausted that didn't recover.

Anyway, I finally put up a fence and gave up on the idea of free range poultry and Border Collies. Problem solved.

I still think the # of threads will total 100,000 by 6/25/2016. However, to have a less-distant
date I will venture a guess that by 8/8/2015 there will be 95,000 threads.
