    Hello,

Is there any here that believes in the Baptist Bride? Where in scripture do you find this?

I feel it is a pride thing and no where in the Bible can you find such a thing as good pride.

Not trying to start war, just interested.

Briefly, it is a Landmark belief that the church and the Bride of Christ are not synonymous and that only Baptists will make up the Bride.

One of the most complete expositions is O.B. Mink's The Baptist Bride.

A lot of primitive baptists have landmarkish ideas.

It is so much better to have ideas based on Scripture though.

It's the Baptist version of Apostolic succession. If you t'ain't one of them Baptists you will be friends of the Bridegroom, but not part of the Bride. Catholic heresy in a Baptist brown bag.

JJJ - Jesus Jordan and John the Baptist is their thang.

If I baptize you and you join their church you have to be baptized again cuz I t'ain't good enough.

    Ugh! Disgusting!

I have been a happy Baptist for decades and have never heard of that term or philosophy.

My opinion is that we, as Baptists, do not hold a monopoly on the truth and in fact, will make up the overwhelming minority of the Christian souls in God's Heaven.

Peace to everyone who knows and obeys Jesus,

I have never heard of this, either and don't need to hear anymore. (Once you put that first drop of sewer water in the receipe I don't really care what the rest of the ingredients are. ;) )

We may well be in the minority but I am not so sure about the degree of whelmness. I think we will represent ourselves fairly well. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
