It is not my accusations. I was quoting an article from David Cloud. Go to his website if you want proof. wayoflife.org If you have a disagreement take it up to him.

You guys sure are determined to sabotage this thread. So be it. As for the MV I gave the facts, provided charts and not one of you gave any evidence to the contrary. Not one of you can tell me which Bible is 100% inspired. The reason you guys haven't done it is because you can't. So you resort to attacking the poster, making baseless accusations and then ask for an apology. The reason why you are all so angry and hostile is because I struck a nerve. This is what the Truth does and many can't handle it. You were brought out of your comfort zone and made to take a long hard look at the facts presented concerning the problems with these MV..

So tell me which Bible is correct? If you can't then please don't derail a good thread.

I really don't care if this thread gets moved or deleted or if I get banned. It has become obvious that there is no way to have a civil discussion on this forum...:godisgood:

Could you name some SBC men or mainstream evangelicals who deny salvation through Christ alone or a literal hell so we could deal with them on a case by case basis please?

That is the KEY phrase that you used...

    "use the NASB"

By their definition, that would by itself make you a "liberal" Christian!

Like God will reject you if you "dare" use any thing other than the KJV!

Would you contend that inspiration and preservation are synonymous? Do you believe that God inspires translations? That seems to be the issue here.

I don't believe that any translation is inspired. Translations are just that, translations of God's perfectly inspired word. No translation in perfect. Whether the errors leaving out a word, mistranslating, a typo, misplaced type, spelling, or any numbers of mistakes not a single edition of a single translation is 100% perfect.

In response I would ask which revision, edition, and printing of which translation is 100% perfect without any errors of any [typos, spelling, typesetting, etc] kind. Please follow up with proof that this particular version, revision, edition, and printing is the one 100% perfect Bible in English. One mistake, of any kind, means that the translation/edition/revision/printing is not truly 'perfect.'

    Moderator note:

The thread had to be moved here because the author of the OP insisted that the question 'Which Bible is 100% inspired?' be answered. That is a translation/version discussion.

On the contrary, you posted things with no context --no references and plenty of our questions unanswered.

LOL! Ouch! One of my nerves (not telling where)got pinched by your deep, insightful commentary. I'm uncomfortable now due to your wise view of things.

I can make up any chart I want to and then leave it up to you to prove it wrong. That's not the way it works. In reality it makes me look like an idiot. You are the one who posted the accusations about MV's and now about pastors and you want us to prove them wrong. Actually, Logos has done a pretty good job debunking your charts and other accusations concerning MV's and you have failed to respond. Now you are doing the same thing with another subject. Personally, I don't know of any IBF or SBC pastors who accept homosexual marriage, don't believe that the Bible is 100% inspired by God, or promote The Shack which, by the way, is an allegory. Anyone who reads it as being fact is being naive. Personally, I don't recommend The Shack. It's just a fad that if left alone will quickly pass. In fact, it already has for the most part, but people like you do more to promote it by over blowing it into some kind of bad bogy man and peeking the interest of those, who otherwise, would have never heard of it.

As much as I dislike David Cloud and most of the things he blathers on about, and as much as I will not get in to a debate about Bible versions as I believe it is a waste of time and energy....I actually DO know some Baptist pastors who do not believe in a literal hell. I became acquainted with them on a Yahoo mail loop, and as they are not on this message board to name them would mean little to anyone here. They're not well-known or celebrated persons. They do not believe that it is a place of everlasting torment, a place of eternal fire....they believe it is an analogy and that hell is here on earth for those who do not believe. Likewise they do not believe in the Rapture, that the Tribulation is an actual series of events...that it's all allegorical and has been mentioned that perhaps Heaven is not an actual place, but a frame of mind.

I also know those who do not believe that EVERY word in the Bible is the inerrant and inspired Word of God. They believe that has been lost throughout the ages and that what we have is a close thing but not every word in any version or translation is the actual inspired Word of God.

Needless to say, there ARE Baptists who do espouse these beliefs.

There are also Baptist, one 'church' in particular, which holds to only one version. They believe that it is okay to picket soldiers funerals and scream 'God Hates F@gs.' Do they get that from their holding to one version?

I agree. What we have have in our various versions of the orginal autographs is close --an approximation. However,to say that each and every word in any translation of God's Holy Word is inspired is wrong-headed.

Raising my hand as a retired baptist pastor, I believe in the inspiration of the original manuscripts. I believe that translations down through ages have preserved the essence of the original, and in that sense I hold the word of God in my hand, whichever version it may be.

I hope that will make that chap happy. I can't stand to see someone so miserable.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Jim, I have to say. I agree with every single word of your post!

And I also believe in a literal hell and that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone plus nothing and minus nothing.

Well, we have 11 pastors who believe all of that - that the Bible is wholly the Word of God (and yes, we have a few different versions we use), the originals were 100% infallible, that there's a literal hell, homosexuality is a sin and whatever else he said. We're an independent Baptist church (not fundamentalist though). Every evangelical church I know on Long Island believes the same thing.

God breathed His word into human form as holy men of God were moved by the Holy Spirit. This inspiration happened once.

God has graciously preserved His word for us though out the years and through the various languages as faithful men and women translated the word of God into our languages and for our generations.

That means I can trust the blessed truth of salvation by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ alone. It means I can confidently warn men about the reality of a literal hell for all eternity. I do not have to waver because I trust God to give me His word in my language and for my time. Praise God that I can trust Him to do that for me as His Holy Spirit teaches me through these translations.

I don't know what the (rather poor, IMNSHO) allegory 'The Shack' has to do with all this.

I don't believe this particular church gets their beliefs from a version but from a man.

As for the other you asked if anyone knew any pastors who do not believe in a literal hell....and I do know a few. Just answering your question is all. Not saying I agree with their theories...I don't. To them I responded that one day they'll find out how wrong they are.

Do you include unscriptural things such as your modern, KJV-only theory that is not stated nor taught in the Scriptures?

Your assertions are wrong. You did not give the facts. You repeated the incorrect and misleading assertions of others, but they are not proven facts. Your charts were answered with evidence to the contrary, and you ignored it or refused to face the facts that refuted your assertions.

Add me to the list of Baptist pastors (41 years pastoring) who believes 100% in the inspiration of the Word of God and reality of heaven, hell, et al

There are some liberal "Baptists" I know that have stood face-to-face with me and spoke of Jesus as NOT virgin born, that He hid baskets of food behind rocks to "appear" to do miracles, etc. May God regenerate their souls

What does believing and holding firmly to "inspiration" have to do with a man-made translation of God's Word or the rantings of schismatics like Cloud?

In all the scriptures, we have vivid pictures about hell. I really don't care which picture you take literally. The fact is, hell is separation from God, in Jesus Christ, and that is enough for me.

If I didn't believe I held te word of God in my hand, I would have stuck with architecture, where I could earn 1,000's of dollars instead of the mere $30.00 a week I received at some churches!!!!

Cheers, and bless the LORD that He lives,

    Jim

So do you believe then that the KJV translators were carried along by the Holy Spirit in translating the KJV, thus the KJV is 100% inspired?
