Do you honestly believe I thought of you when typing my post? Did you actually read the post?

My concerns are regarding the effects alcohol has on the body. It lowers inhibitions, the bodies nautural defense mechanisms opening the door to carnal desires. It is also a drug, which is not good for the body.

Getting upset at the OP (Righteousdude) for calling drinking alcohol a vice is silly. Of course it is a vice. No one goes out of their way to spend their hard earned dollars purchasing a drug (alcohol), and ingest it into their system if they are not getting a fix from it.

If you wish to call me a hypocondriac, paranoid, even a jerk, etc.. then that would be fine. At least you took the time to read my post!

Your singing was cut out, it wastes bandwith :D

I am not using a medical syndrome as a "blanket" statement for all alcohol use, (only babies get fetal alcohol syndrome) nor did I label all alcohol use "abuse". Please, again, read my post.

There are generally two days out of the year on which I like to have a drink...New Year's Eve and my birthday. So, I had a whole winecooler and a half tonight (dumped the last half of the second one), and something really amazing happened...I didn't get drunk, I didn't feel any carnal desires of any kind, I didn't really feel anything. In fact, I have pretty much followed the same routine as any other night, with the exception of waking hubby at midnight for my New Year's kiss. Come on, guys, some people may be affected by drinking more than others and those people shouldn't do it. For those of us who can handle a winecooler or beer every now and then, leave us alone. The Bible condemns drunkenness, which is the perpetual state of being drunk; there is no condemnation for having a drink, or even two, on an occasional basis. Frankly, this is an issue everyone has to decide for themselves.

Who cares what "Baptists" think. Gods Word is clear and you baptists drinkers have to twist Scripture to condone drinking alcohol.

Not true! It's the other way around. To condemn any drinking of alcohol is to be at odds with Scripture itself!

There is a FAR GREATER risk to Baptists health than alcohol and/or tobacco:

    The "POTLUCK DINNER"!

I can't wait for the next one :)

I totally agree! I can drink a mikes lemonade without even feeling ANYTHING.
But even then, if you read the bible it is a good thing to drink enough wine to cheer.
Not so much to get drunk but enough to relax etc.

Wine is a BLESSING from God.
    I am thankful for it.

I read your post and appreciate the info on alcohol. I was just stating that all people that partake are not abusers or pregant women,of which, shouldn't drink anyway. I wasn't upset at RD for the post. I was just stating that he thinks it is a bad habit, so a biased book isn't going to do anybody any good anyway. If he thinks all drinking is a bad habit, that's what the book is going to be about. No matter what other view he gets here.
