I have a few in mind, but I would like to see a few others.

What are the untouchables in Baptist circles?

It isn't homosexuality either, so please no one say that.

Worship style. You don't EVER do a song that doesn't involve an organ, a piano, and a hymnal. If it's not in the hymnal, it's not worship [IMG]

the chair you sit in can be a sacred cow in many churches lol [IMG]

in our Church the sacred cow is the order of worship. God forbid when the preacher leave our or change the order of this song before prayer and this announcement after the song!!!

Thankfully while people comment on it, no one truly regards it (now that the deviant one has resigned) as being a sin against God to deviate once in awhile.

    The Sunday School Record -

    attendance
    bible brought
    read bible daily
    worship attendance
    giving
    visits
    contacts

We're still using records printed in the 60's because we have them. Our record keeping serves no purpose but to store records!

Hopefully no one is observing the sabbath. The sabbath was between God and Israel. It has nothing to do with the church age or Gentiles.
People sure get things balled up when they don't rightly divide.

Traditional doctrine = forms of worship or practices that have been followed for so many years that people are just sure that the Bible teaches them. (They don't know mind you, they are just sure.)

Many traditions are harmless enough, when viewed objectively, but Lord help the person that suggests changing them!!!!!!

How about that annoying little sign on the wall, upon which the attendance numbers are posted...OR maybe the bland bulletins full of commercials. Thank GOD for powerpoint! (no irreverence intended)...OR maybe the fact that potlucks are a part of the church covenant! (ladies - it is time to try some new recipes here!)
    How about Cantadas....

qwerty says, "The two biggest sacred cows . . . Tithing and Attendance"

To which I reply---"Boy, I hope that Tithin' cow grazes for a long time! Let it graze! Let it graze!!"

Gettin' out at 12 sharp! Don't even think about it at my church!!

"But Preacher! We're hungry!"----anybody who knows me will tell you that I am probably the "Most Hungry" person there---but will preach till I'm finished! Usually no later that 12:15 but people gripe anyway!

    Yes! Noon!

Here's a new one for you...the other day the church I pastor was in business meeting to approve the budget for the '04-'05 church year. Everything was going well until one of the older folks noticed that we had cut out the CHRISTMAS TREATS for the upcoming year. That's right...we actually had $400 in our church budget just so we could buy apples, oranges, and candy bars for everybody in the church at a time when the Incarnation is supposed to take center stage. Good news though, the cow wasn't sacred enough...the amended motion to add them back to the budget failed. Praise the Lord!

I remember all growing up and getting those every Christmas. I am only 20, so I am still a kid, but still. I didn't think churches actually had that in the budget...

woman can't wear pants to anything! I am not convicted to wear dresses all the time!

no drums on any music!! :(

My son is a top notch drummer, I cannot get him
to go to my church to hear the gospel because he found out how against drums the IFB are. So I am having Grace Fellowship witness to him since they are non denominational and preach the gospel [IMG]
