Well, this is what happens when people don't read. Obscurantism abounds, and of course people are easily swayed by political rhetoric.

"many of the disparities that exist in the African-American community today can be directly traced to inequalities passed on from an earlier generation that suffered under the brutal legacy of slavery and Jim Crow."

Am I the only one who picked up on this statement as being false? Bill Cosby save us!

Based on history it is a very true statement.

You would believe the sky is green if Obama said it.

That guy sounds as hateful as this guy......

“Racism is when you have laws set up, systematically put in a way to keep people from advancing, to stop the advancement of a people. Black people have never had the power to enforce racism, and so this is something that white America is going to have to work out themselves. If they decide they want to stop it, curtail it, or to do the right thing... then it will be done, but not until then."

    Spike Lee

It's in the black activist mindset that whites have to make it right, and all they have to do is point out what they feel to be what's wrong. (And don't even try and call that racist. I'm addressing this Wright bigot.) There are puh-lenty of successful black folks, who have nothing but hard work & support from loved ones to thank.

White America has bent over backwards, even made it OK to discriminate against ourselves, to pay for this supposed "original sin". White people have done more to end racial inequality than all the other races combined, and it's still not enough.....the only thing that will save race relations is electing a socialistleftist president.

    Baloney.

As a post-racial American, I do not believe "the legacy of slavery" gives black people the right to be permanently ill-mannered.

    Guess who ?

    That's right, you're FAVORITE....Ann Coulter

A great many white people, espeically among conservatives, have little understanding on this subject. They mistakenly believe that several hundred years of systematic discrimination can be wiped out and overcome in a mere forty years.

And why can't it? Is there a specific time formula for forgiveness?

I refuse to suffer the guilt, Ken, and I'm certainly not willing to ruin this country with an ultra-liberal, inexperienced, vapid cult hero candidate just because some people say it'll make the nation feel less racist.

I am not discussing guilt. I am talking about a whole group of people attempting to overcome several hundred years of officially sanctioned discrimination in these United States. It is not a matter of guilt or forgiveness. It is a matter of dealing with the repercussions of sanctioned discrimination. I hope to deal with this subject in more depth during my three day weekend. Stay tuned.

I got news for you. I didn't sanction it. I don't participate in it. Nor am I going to suffer any repercussions.

In other words, take it until Al Sharpton says it's enough ? I deal with the fact that white America hasn't overcome it's "shameful history", and so just shut up and get used to the tiremarks on my back ?

I say again.....Baloney. A good amount of the American black population has moved on. It people like Sharton, Jackson, & this Wright fellow that won't let anyone else.

And the discrimination issue has become more about gaining political power than it is about genuine hurt.

It is obvious that we have some posters who have not made an effort ot understand nor been educated on what it means to grow up black in these United States.

You would rather call us racially ignorant than address one point we bring up.

Patience, bro. I already said I would address this over my three day weekend. I just took my wife out to eat and now I will spend the rest of this evening watching episodes of "Star Trek: Enterprise" with her. :)

Very nice, Ken. Phyllis and I are having guests over, and we plan on spending this weekend skiing the vast Montana backcountry with them for the next three days, so I'll be checking you later. Most likely the BB will have moved on....

But hey, I hope you & she enjoyed the meal, and God bless the both of you.
