    Greetings to you Brother Shiloh,

You are a fish out of water on this board and most everywhere else in the world. As one fish to another I greet and salute you for your discernment on the issues you cited and turning away from the world.

I am not sure that I agree or disagree with you relative to your view concerning Brother Herb. Unless, I have missed a memo I do not believe it has been made clear by either the moderators nor Herb the cause for his ban. I would point out a couple of things though.

I have some experience with being a moderator of a message board. It is often a challenging and thankless position and I can only imagine the challenge it is to faithfully keep this divided house from devouring each other. While I am aligned with much of Brother Herb's theological positions, I am not always aligned with his attitudes and behaviors towards those he disagrees with, I'm opposed to name calling and I am opposed to puffed up comments directed at moderators. We are called to submit to authority and while a message board is not necessarily a church, this body of believers has an agreed hierarchy that has authority over the things that go on here. I have not seen any evidence on this board of moderators stifling the big "F" fundamental positions. Rather, I have seen evidence of them allowing free discussion until the discussion goes personal or is in violation of some other board rule. I haven't been around for too long on this board so certainly my judgement could be in error.

Having said all that, I would encourage that so long as we do not clearly understand the circumstances of Brother Herb's departure that we give both Herb and the moderators the benefit of the doubt. I pray that this issue can be worked out amongst them and that we will once again be blessed with Brother Herb's presence and input.

Excellent post Rufus and I appreciate your spirit. As one who is not always as gentle with an answer as I should be, there are times the mods have had to remind me of that, and not only the mods but other posters also. There are many on this board who have strange belief systems from my point of view, and it is here that those who call themselves Baptist can work through them. Clearly, we will not always agree, but unless it is blatant heresy, we must give room for those areas of dissagreement within the Body. And you are right, the one thing that will get a person banned on this forum is to attack the authority of the mods, and we all agreed to those rules when we signed up.

    Bro Tony

I was in the midst of reading thatparticular thread when the banning occured, I think.
I believe it was Herb's reply to the "venerable" Dr.Bob that got him the big B from Dr.B.

I am sure I could be wrong, but the mods/admin do not like to be challenged very much here I have found.

Usually the challengers are of the KJVo stripe. And they are usually the abrasive type as well. Not ALL KJVo are abrasive. Given the bigotry against KJVo here and the abrasiveness of some folks' natural bent, and you have a mix of fire and gasoline. Eventually you will see explosions of some kind.

That is my opinion, and I'm stickin' to it.

    This charge always interests me.

I have only used the KJV my entire ministry, yet we we are biased against a KJV position? Am I missing something here?

Nothing has changed here on the BB. Could it be that you misunderstood things? All of us have.

I have disagreed with some of the mods here some, Dr Bob, and I think even C4K, and maybe a couple others. They expect you to disagree with them, even in the debate section, but at the same time, they expect civility.

I've been chastised before, and it did me good. I am usually a very easy going person... my wife says I am a doormat... but every once in a while I get on a tangent.

I don't mind people disagreeing with me, I just don't want to be told that they are more holy because they hold to some interpretation that I don't.

I must admit to being somewhat disappointed to see some posters being banned, even though I think I understand why.

You see, I happen to have chronically low blood pressure, and reading some of the stuff some post would raise mine to acceptable levels. The alternative to this is to eat a lot of pork, but health issues make this a bad choice, as well. :tonofbricks::flower:

Granted, on a couple of posters, I'll just prefer to let the BP stay low, rather than risk raising minions to an unacceptable level. Personally, I've not fought with many moderators, who do a thankless job, but have whined or disagreed with a couple. I hope I have not been rude to any mods, however. BTW, you might consider how many mods there are, and then read all the posts just to see how lenient they actually are. It really does take an effort to get oneself banned, at least on the BB! :BangHead:

I'm don't want to pass judgement on moderators for banning Bro Herb. I assume they had their reasons. I just don't know what they are.

Anyway, I can't help but feel that my fundamental family has been wounded. It may be a shock to some of you, but I am a sin-hatin-KJV-can't-stand-christian-rock-fundamentalist and proud of it (you know, in the good way of being proud) :)! I am also a 5 point Calvinist which makes me a fifth wheel in most fundamental circles, and I often have the most bitter debates with fellow fundy's, but I can't help but feel that Herb didn't deserve what he got.

People get offended, but those same people can't seem to wait to interact with the offender.

The last couple of posters who were banned worked very hard at it. And I don't believe anybody was surprised when it happened.

I surely am curious as what the straw was that broke the camel's back. Or, inquisitive. Aw heck, I'm just nosy.

Seems that Herb is on another thread, name-calling, bad-mouthing and slamming this board and its moderators.

There are posters on here that I don't agree with, position-wise, yet they are gracious and refrain from rudeness and name-calling. I appreciate that and try to do the same...Wish I had a perfect record, but I'm trying.

Herb did not attempt to be nice, gentle, or kind. I miss him none at all.

And his tantrums on other threads do nothing but reinforce my opinion.

Those who state you have to work at getting banned from Baptist Board are right on the money.
As an Admin, I can say my preference is to just muddle through matters. If you want to take a my way or trhe highway approach, well then I'll give you enough rope to hang yourself.

And with that comment, I'm closing this thread.

In the providence of God, I was away most of today picking up my sister in law for her Christmas visit. Elena is 38 and has Downs Syndrome. She operates at a +/-10 year old level. Think of a ten year old with twenty eight years of experience. And ten year olds are smart.
So, Herself and I have a kid for Christmas.
