BB Upgrade this evening

    Just a quick notice to inform everyone that the BB will be down during this evening as we're upgrading the software and making some design changes as well. The BB will have a new look and many new features.

    New features include:

    Rework of search engine - it uses far less memory then previous versions

    Avatars and custom user titles

    "Report Post" link - allows members to mail the forum moderator and board administrator about a post he or she feels is inappropriate.

    Jump to New Posts link - Located at the top of each topic - when clicked, it takes users to the posts in that topic that were made after their last visit to the board.

    The upgrade is for the purpose of serving you better. Thank you for understanding.

    Webmaster, thanks for the scoop.

    What time, EST, do you expect the upgrade to begin?

    I've gotten rather used to hanging out and I'm afraid I might be anxious that you'll suddenly "turn off the lights" while I'm still in the house :cool: :rolleyes:

    Or worse, that I might suffer withdrawls because I intentionally stayed away thinking it is being done, at any moment. [​IMG]

    Like, Granny, I am getting used to doing things here a certain way, even in so short a time. Will there be a long learning curve to the updates, for this old dog to learn the newer tricks (i.e. - I just now feel like I got the newer smilies down)?

    Don't worry David, most changes won't even be visible on the surface (except for some color changes and a few new features).

    The new features are very user-friendly and will only take a few minutes to get used to them. Just like the new smileys.

    I hate be a trouble maker, but the light colored words on the light back ground are hard to see.

    I'm still playing with the various color schemes as you'll see in different forums. Nothing's final yet.

    The dark background with light letters is very difficult to read. I think my age is showing ;)

    I came here after spending quite a few hours re-doing the opening page of the church website, (which was completely BLACK due to an error I myself made, yesterday!), and I find muted color and tiny pale link text and I could only think that my monitor was on its very last pixel.

    Okay, Webmaster - that jolt sure got my attention. :D I'm getting used to these changes even as I type. It's handsome! I think I like it.

    I like the color schemes you've selected, webmaster. [​IMG]

    If I could request, My memory is poorer than it used to be, and I have trouble remembering the threads or areas that I frequent. You used to have it so that when I was returning to the board, the topics I had followed were a darker color than the others, slightly, and I knew where my trails of crumbs had gone. Is there any way to continue this, as I'm a bit befuddled and confused when I don't remember where I've been, even a day earlier. [sigh]

    I also think the graphics you've chosen make selecting options much easier.

    BTW, can someone, perhaps you, webmaster, tell me how the buddy lists are utilized here?
