You mean to stop eating short of gluttony?

None of these are a sin so you would not be leading a brother astray.

I'm not encouraging legalism, I'm not saying abstain because you have to or because not abstaining will send you to hell, I encourage you to abstain out of love for your fellowman and your desire to see him walk the strait and narrow. Don't abstain to be saved (legalism), abstain because you are saved and want to be an example to the world.

My theory is this, anything you won't do in Church you probably shouldn't do outside of Church.

Actually, not. Being a vegetarian means you eat "for life." Vegeterian comes from the same root word as vegetable (vegetare - life) but othewise, has nothing to do with veggies. [IMG]

I actually do not like that many vegetables.

I've never been able to get past the foul taste and stench of beer to drink it. I tried it, and it was horrid. Why anyone would want to drink it is beyond me. Anyone who can drink that should be able to eat or drink anything.

I wasn't raised as a Baptist, so having a beer was never an issue. I was taught that drinking is not a sin; however, being drunk is. Moderation is the key. If you can't determine what moderation is, then you probably have a problem and shouldn't drink at all.

    Do you have kids?
Do you post on the BB in church?
Do you eat dinner during the sermon?
Do you sleep during the singing?

If you will not do any of those things in church, why do them at all?

A person that drinks a glass of wine say once a month is not sinning, they are not consuming the whole bottle nor are they getting drunk. The place that it would become a sin is if they are seen purchasing that alcohol and it causes someone to stumble, or it causes the church to be gossiped about. If one drinks that alcohol in there home behind closed doors and no one but them and God knows about it and they bless that glass of wine. There is no sin.

Now a person that drinks daily and gets drunk or even drinks weekly, monthly, or yearly and gets DRUNK it is a SIN. The bible says not to get drunk period. I think we tell everyone not to drink because we dont know who can drink one here and there and who will drink all of it in front of them. Its just become easier to say NOBODY can do it.

1Co 6:11-12 And such were some of you. But you are washed, but you are sanctified, but you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. (12) All things are lawful to me, but not all things profit. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

Thats very powerful statement that was made there. We have to consider this, we frown on Alcohol however we dont frown on cough syrup and it has alcohol in it. I dont think a person today needs to drink, we have other alternatives to get the enzymes that wine had in them for there stomachs. We can though see in biblical times were they were told to drink a little

1Ti 5:20-25 Those who sin, rebuke before all, so that the rest also may fear. (21) I charge you before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that you guard these things without prejudice, doing nothing by partiality. (22) Do not lay hands quickly on anyone, neither be partaker of the sins of others. Keep yourself pure. (23) Drink water no longer, but use a little wine for your stomach's sake, and for your frequent infirmities. (24) Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment. And some they also follow after. (25) Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand, and those who are otherwise cannot be hidden.

You do notive it says little though and not alot. Alcohol in and of itself is not a sin but I would say that people today dont just drink one beer. They tend to consume it in large quantiites and in social gatherings which could cause another to stumble and sin. I for one think that no one should drink because we have alternatives today for the benifits that the Alcohol brought to them however if one is using it for medical purposes and in moderation meaning a glass every now and then, I personally dont view that as sin.

    1. Yes... I was fruitful and multiplied...
    2. Yes... I was doing it too much during the day and not getting much done so I had to stop that practice. I have been known to take a trip down the board between services on Sunday.
    3. Not during the sermon but at Church all the time
    4. SShh.. I generally sit with my eyes closed and have been known to doze off. I'm not much for singing and like preaching most at Church. I have been known to take a nap in the office if I know I will be there late because of a night service etc...

I like your questions but I think you knew what I meant. My sister for example has clothe she can wear to Church and clothe "she can't". I believe if you can't wear it to Church, perhaps you shouldn't wear it.

I would have no problem consuming alcoholic beverages in church. I think churches should use real wine in communion.

That's my opinion about lite beer. It is shameful and I believe it comes straight from the pit of hell. Any real Christian would not drink anything lighter than a nice golden ale. The more sanctified christians should drink Guiness or some other stout or porter. Of course it's wisest if you drank no more than two in a sitting and enjoyed it with a fine cigar.

1 Thess 5:19-22 is one sentence in the Greek text.

1 Thess 5:19-22 Do not quench the Spirit; do not despise prophetic utterances, but examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every form of evil.

Jn. 7:24, "Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment."
