I've asked about her before, but didn't get an answer. Kate, are her teachings in line with most of our southern Baptist beliefs?

I have not had the opportunity to read any of her books or attend any studies, but I see her books, videos, and Bible studies advertised alot.

I did her study on David about a year or two ago.

It was excellent. She can relate God's Word to your life better than most teachers I have listened to.

    It was a good study.

    Peace-

I hope you all will peek in over at the Bible Study Forum on this board. I am posting a study originally written by Mrs. Kay Fredericksen, a mission to the Philippines. She wrote many great lessons and is totally conservative.

I am not familiar with Beth Moore - but I'm sure she is Fundamental also.

    Hello....

Beth Moore is one of my favorite authors of Bible studies.....I have done several.

She is an excellent cross referencer.....and very conscientious about keeping things in their intended context....

My only qualm with her studies is she does not use the KJV as the Scriptural text......

BUT I do.....even when using her studies.

The lady has wonderful insight....it is in line with God's Word....and a true gift of expressing herself....so I give her a hearty [IMG]

My wife has taken Beth Moore Bible Studies and claims that they are wonderful studies. Just goes to show that God DOES call women to teach/preach His word and gives them insight....thanks for proving that point!

    OUCH.. Charlesga!!

Beth Moore does NOT preach or teach men. She's a Southern Baptist and her pastor reads her material and helps guide her. She also calls herself a speaker.

Our pastor is friends with Beth's pastor and Bro. Alan's wife has known Beth for a few years. Both speak highly of her as a Christian woman used by God as a Sunday School teacher, wife and mother.

MISSION STATEMENT FOR LIVING PROOF MINISTRIES

We believe that Jesus Christ is “the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6)

We believe that “salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to man by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12 )

We believe “if we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.”
    (1 John 1:8)

We believe “if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

We believe that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” and can fully redeem and powerfully use even those who consider they have been “the worst.” (1 Timothy 1:15)

We believe God “is patient, not wanting any to perish but everyone to come to repentance.”
    (2 Peter 3:9)

We believe that all scripture is “God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16)

We believe that every believer in Christ is the “temple of the Holy Spirit.” (1 Corinthians 6:19)

We believe we have been “baptized by one Spirit into one body” (1Corinthians 12:13) and recognize the value and equality of all members of the body of Christ. We are “all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:29) We actively support the unity of all believers eclipsing all denominational, economic, or ethnic diversities.

We believe we have “different kinds of gifts but the same Spirit.” (1 Corinthians 12:4)

We believe that “our citizenship is in heaven and we eagerly await a Savior from there the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables Him to bring everything under His control, will transform our lowly bodies so they will be like His glorious body.” (Philippians 3:21) “And so shall we forever be with the Lord.” (1 Thessalonians 4:17)

Until then, we believe we are to strive to “live holy and Godly lives as we look forward to the day of God.” (2 Peter 3:11,12)

ONE OF OUR VISIONS AT LIVING PROOF MINISTRIES

Living Proof is devoted to investing in the Spiritual lives of people of every color and denomination through sound Biblical teaching and uplifting praise and worship. Often we hear the noble expression "color blind" to describe people without racial prejudice. We're not at all sure "color blindness" is what God is looking for. We believe He wants us to appreciate and delight in our different colors and be "color-blessed" instead!

God has opened Beth's eyes to a disturbing fact that most of the events where she was speaking were attended by far fewer people of color than she expected to see. God turned that disturbance in Beth's heart into a full-fledged burden – to be part of a new acceptance and appreciation of Believers of all Christian denominations and colors…Technicolor Vision. We are now in the infant stages of the Technicolor Vision. Pray with us as we seek to break down these walls and find ways to bridge the gap!

Let's get a little taste of Revelation 7:9…I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb,…and cried with a loud voice, saying, "Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb."

    Diane,

Thanks for that information. However, I would love to take a Beth Moore Bible Study and feel that I could learn alot from her. Just because I am a man does not mean I cannot sit under the teaching of a woman and learn. By the way...there doesn't seem to be a great deal of difference between her "speaking" and preaching.

But Charles, you would not be allowed to buy a ticket and attend her speaking seminar...

And it would be very rude of you to try since Beth 'speaks' to her sisters in Christ and not to men.

    Correct?

    Diane,

No, I would not try, as I respect her decision to "speak" to her sisters in Christ. I have no problem with her, and in fact believe she has a wonderful ministry. But please see my point....women can be effective teaching men, and vice versa. We learn from each other. God can give us both very useful insights.

By the way, I'm really not a rude person. [IMG]

But Charles, Beth and I are Southern Baptists and WE believe that women are NOT to teach men.

However, you can purchase her books and workbooks and do a study alongside your wife. There's also some wonderful books for men, by men. How about "The Little Boy in Me" or "Man in the Mirror"?

I didn't mean you were rude but it would be rude if any man attempted to force Beth Moore, or any SB Woman who feels strongly about what scripture says, to allow them in their class.

I've been asked many times to teach our Sunday School class. The men seem to feel that I know so much.. but I explain to them that it's only that I study MY lesson... and that I will never teach men, according to how I see God's word.

Diane I appreciate your stance but I feel it comes across as a little over the top. I did not realize that she would not speak to men. If that is her view it is wonderful but I must confess that I have heard her on the radio and she is an excellent speaker. I wonder if she or you are aware that men listen to her on the radio, in doing so I did not realize that I was breaking any rule. I also did not realize that this stance was a southern baptist mandate. I would draw the line if Beth considered herself a pastor but as a speaker I love hearing her.

C S Murphy and anyone else interested.....

I have several studies by Beth Moore....they are excellent and I recommend the highly for their content....I gave a short recommendation earlier in this thread.........

    BUT you are absolutely right.....

On the back inside jacket of a study titled "Breaking Free" the publisher has this to say......

"Beth Moore is a writer and teacher of best-selling Bible studies whose public speaking engagements carry her all over the world. A dedicated wife and mother of two, Moore lives in Houston, Texas, where she serves on the pastor's council of First Baptist Church, teaches a weeknight inter-denominational ladies Bible Study, and teaches a coed adult Sunday school class with an attendance of over three hundred."

I guess that settles it. Coed.

    Lace,
I wonder why she is on the pastor's council? What do you think?

I can't answer your question with any certainty. I know only what the book jacket says.

And that the studies are really great for jump starting study. The lady does a thorough job of cross-referencing her topic and has some wonderful insight.

I can only render a guess her pastor sees the value of her counsel....
