    2% of African Americans

Why is it this historically low?

In what may turn out to be one of the biggest free-falls in the history of presidential polling, President Bush's job-approval rating among African Americans has dropped to 2 percent, according to a new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll.

President Bush has not been doing well in the area of leadership during the past few months. And his poll numbers reflect this.

Every president since LBJ has gone through a period of very, very, very bad poll numbers.

The question is specifically ...Why? the big drop
in the African American confidence in bush.

    Snippet:
By comparison, 45 percent of whites and 36 percent of Hispanics approve of the job Bush is doing.

It has been as high as 51% after 9/11 and as recently at 19%. This is a major pull the rug out from under you ..drop. imho

If you remember Ken Melhman made a high profile
visit in reaching out to afro-americans and in so
doing apologized for the past Republican gaffes.

It was well recieved and applauded...but then did
    the gaffes start again?

Again 2% is A HISTORICAL groundbreaker.

As long as black American voters are basically in the hip pocket of the Democrat Party regardless of the performance of the Democrats elected to office by their votes, the GOP will not make any inroads among them.

If Bush was to run for re-election in 2008 he would be in big trouble politically. Instead, these low poll numbers are simply statistics for the history buffs to mull over in years to come.

Exactly. African-Americans, Jews, gays and lesbians all make up groups that vote Democrat no matter what. It dates back to 1932 and FDR and the famous fireside chat slogan broadcast via radio during the Great Depression and set to music when the great FDR said, "I, too, am a victim."
