    Greetings,

The book that had the greatest impact on me was: "Kit Carson, Trailblazer and Scout". It doesn't sound that spectacular, but in 5th grade I hated to read, and my mother was going to have me read a book. She went to the library, picked one out, and told me that I had to read 2 chapters every day. The book on Kit Carson was the book. I read it cover to cover that day. I then read at least 15 other books on Kit Carson, including this same book at least 5 times. This began my love affair with books, learning and History which continues to this day. I wouldn't be the person I am today if my mom did not give me that book.

    peace

Yes "Abandonment to Divine Providence" is definately a great book, thanks for the recommendation for Way of the Pilgrim..I will add it to my list to read.

Another big impact book would have to be Imitation of Christ, but curiously many editions have removed almost all references from the book which would link it to Catholocism.

    God Bless

You know what, I posted this topic just out of curiosity and then realized that I couldn't answer it immediately. I am still trying to think of my most influential book. I will look through my bookshelves as well and post a list of books that I would recommend a little later.

    Introduction to a Devout Life
    by Frances De Sales 1567 -1622 A.D.

This is a title I want to read this summer - it's on my shelf.

As well as book whose title escapes me but it is basically John of the Cross and Teresa of Avila for Dummies (sp?), I think it is written by Thomas Dubay.

That would be Fire Within. That's another one on my shelf, waiting to be read.

    Here's another title:

To Know Christ Jesus by Frank Sheed

You can grab a copy of the Mary Foundation's latest tape at no cost, which expounds a summary of Christopher West's Theology of the Body at:

    http://www.maryfoundation.com

I listened to this yesterday, and it is an excellent summary; I enjoyed it very much. The tape is titled Marriage and the Eucharist, and there is a summary of the content at the URL address I listed above.
