Sure, but we should also ask "fifth from the bottom of what?" Fifth fo the bottom at Annapolis is a far cry from being fifth from the bottom at some other college. So we need to compare apples to apples. It may indicate a lot of things, like being youthful.

 

I know that several posters (myself included) have pointed out red herring arguments in threads here in the Politics Forum. I am glad that you have learned the term. Now you need to learn its definition in order to use it properly to invalidate your opponent's argument.

I appreciate you response. But I think it is a red herring. Lincoln has little experience and was criticized on this during the campaign with Douglas. I do not believe his 'lack of experience' meant he was not fit to be president. In the same light there are those who have had lots of experience, but did not make good presidents, i.e. Harding and Hoover are two examples.

 

This is a red herring argument. It does not seek to address whether or not BHO is ready to be President (the subject of this thread); rather, it seeks to divert attention from BHO and focus it on some irrelevant (to this discussion/subject) bit of information about John McCain.

These are good points to introduce in making your argument in favor of BHO. They address the subject of the discussion. However, you are in error when you try to invalidate the discussion out right by inapproprately calling it (the entire discussion) a red herring. Go back and re-read the definiton of a red herring that I provided.

 

Care to back this assertion up with evidence and sources? Otherwise, it is simply your opinion and as you know, everybody's got one of those....

This thread is about whether or not BHO is ready to be President. This thread is not about John McCain, his ranking at the Naval Academy, his military service, etc. If you wish to discuss these things please feel free to open another thread on those topics. If you can not post something that supports why BHO is ready to be President then please don't try to post off subject material just to drive this discussion off topic.

Obama has exactly the same amount of experience as Abraham Lincoln had when he took office... Two terms in the state Senate and first term in the US Senate.

Perhaps it isn't experience that prepares one for this office since no one running has experience as president.
