ATLANTA — A meeting of liberal Baptists has wrapped in Atlanta with a call to action from former President, Bill Clinton.

According to the Religion News Service, Clinton told the delegates that there must be a renewed push to heal ideological splits with more conservative Baptists. "We have to meet this schism with respectful disagreement. "We must approach those who disagree with an outstretched hand, not a clenched fist."

Some nerve he has. And what are these folks doing having him speak. Aside form their ungodly agenda to begin with having this fella who cheats on his wife without shame attempt to tell anyone how they should live or act is ridiculous until he repents. They certainly have lost any shred of credibility they had to begin with.

Did this baptist meeting that was organized by so many former/anti-SBC voices really have any credibility?

Meaning, of course, that more Baptists just have to start ignoring Scripture when it's politically convenient.

I will agree that they do understand the concept of hypocrisy.

    People's politics trump their Christianity.

    True.

We're reminded of it every time a Christian here at BB supports a pro abortion candidate.

How can there be unity when some believe in abortion
when some believe that the government should finance the slackers
when some believe that sexual immorality is acceptable
when some believe that homosexual is normal
when some believe that sprinkling is a substitute for immersion
when some believe that Bible story's such as Jonah & the great fish and Crossing of the Red Sea are nothing more than moral stories - ie not factual events

Just like we're reminded of it every time a Christian here supports a pro-war, pro-"non-torture interrogation" candidate.

Yes, it touched a nerve. I'm sick of hearing the Democrats demonized for being pro-choice and the Republicans given a free pass just because they're nominally pro-life.

There are major moral flaws with the platforms of both parties.

    Get over it.

    Murdering the unborn is demonic.

Removed on second thought. This is not fruitful to continue.

Yes, it is and I don't know a single "warmonger" on this board.

I know several that support the murder of the unborn with their ballots, while denying with their tongues that they do.

You can thank Magnetic Poles for putting us on this path with his comment "People's politics trump their Christianity."

Sadly, it's an absolutely true statement. It's impossible for liberal Christians to reconcile their voting pattern with scripture, so they just slough it off by saying they're not "single issue" voters.

Some wise words from Clinton that I think can be applied to any schism in Christianity.

    KJV Ephesians 4:2-3
With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Nope - but since you are I never really expected that you would have the ability to discern that.

Again, thanks for authenticating the point that was being made.
