Does anyone know what Tom Ascol was talking about, when he mentioned the SBC 'Binitarianism' controversy?

    Binitarianism - Wikipedia

"Binitarianism is a Christian theology of two persons, personas, or aspects in one substance/Divinity (or God). Classically, binitarianism is understood as a form of monotheism—that is, that God is absolutely one being—and yet with binitarianism there is a 'twoness' in God....The other common forms of monotheism are 'unitarianism', a belief in one God with one person, and 'trinitarianism', a belief in one God with three persons."

    I can't follow the link.

But I don't think it's any secret that Baptists (and a lot of other noncharismatic sects) are historically weak on pneumatology.

I was not aware of this controversy in the Southern Baptist Convention, though I am aware of some individual Baptists who don't really view the Holy Spirit as an equal part of the Godhead.

    So do I.

My thought is those who don't believe in the Holy trinity don't know Scripture very well.

That would be rank heresy, denying that the Holy Spirit is fully God!
