There is a modern rockband called "Bathory". You can look them up on Amazon.com. Bathory purports to play Norse-Germanic heathen-inspired music. However, having nothing at all to do with Norse-Germanic anything, the name of the band is inspired by the infamous serial killer Elizabeth Bathory who prayed upon young women in Slovakia & Transylvania around 1600 CE:

According to Wikipedia, letters written in her own hand to her husband prove she practiced sadistic "black magic" rituals. She was accused of torturing and sacraficing young maidens and bathing in their blood to keep her skin smooth.

So, just to ask a blatantly obvious question, if today's Music Industry churns out "music" from blatantly black-magic/pagan inspired bands...

wouldn't it be fair to say that black-magic/pagans control the Music Industry (or, at least, it looks that way)? Not that you haven't already heard this charge before, even!

(This has to do with music... I'm not sure if it belongs in this subforum, sorry if it does not, but it does have to do w/ music).

Just because there are pagans in music, doesn't mean that pagans control all music.

That's conspiracy theory territory. Are there evil folks afoot in the "industry?" Yep. Are there Godly folks? Not enough, but there are some...

If we limit the Music Industry as the Music businesses and its industries, not covering the whole music world including the true believers' gospel world, you are quite correct!

The main stream of the music industries may be occupied by the paganism and commercial businesses. It is quite scary that such paganism or the serial killer inspired music is revived in the mordenized form as we notice the tremendous problems with the New Age music.

I think motives are being assigned to those in the industry that aren't necessarily there. I think the music industry is out to make a buck using whatever bands they believe are good and will become popular.

For example, if a band named "Sunshine and Puppies" were to become hugely popular singing songs that are only about love, joy and happiness, do you think the record companies would turn down the opportunity to make money?

If there's anything evil about the music industry, it has more to do with their use of DRM and their anti-consumer mentality than it does anything else. But, they're an easy target.

Oh, this is nothing new - there are several bands from Scandinavia that are in this whole black-magic/paganism/occult genre. There were bands like Mercyful Fate (and of course King Diamond - who went solo) along with Mayhem. According to allmusic.com, Mayhem has been around since 1985.

    Creepy stuff.....

    Regards, hope all is well,
