Bob Barr for President 2008 - The Thread

I apologize for the confusion. I have been a libertarian since 1980 and a Libertarian Party member off and on during that time.

 

Only to cause aggravation for the GOP Establishment.

 

Barr’s path to victory

This is a very interesting scenario:

First, Barr needs to get the endorsement of Ron Paul and try to get the Revolution behind him.

Step two is to convince conservatives and Republicans of the obvious fact that McCain is a dead man walking. That way, you turn the wasted vote argument upside down. The wasted vote here is the “major” party. As more and more Republicans become convinced of this, McCain’s poll numbers will shrink and Barr’s will rise.

If Barr can pass McCain in the polls, he becomes the challenger to Obama and McCain will continue to fade away.

So let’s say that step three is that Obama implodes when people start to grow tired of the empty rhetoric and the constant verbal gaffes.

As I suggested in my various Ron Paul analyses, Barr needs to outflank Obama from the left and right at the same time. Outflank him from the right on taxes and spending and global warming – the sleeper issue–and from the left on the Iraq War and the drug war. Barr should campaign in the black community and present a positive alternative to the liberal Democratic policies that have devastated their communities for 75 years and that Obama promises to continue and even intensify.

Will this happen? Probably not. It is impossible? No, not in this crazy year."

Also, I disagree with your assessment of Barr's chances. We'll find out on November 4.

Yes, I do, dragonfly. I really don't believe that on November 4 that most limited government folks will turn their backs on their principles and vote for Senator JSM III.
