I remember hearing him preach a crusade when I was a kid. My dad was stationed in Hawaii (Navy), and he did a crusade in Honolulu. Don't remember much about it.

I heard he had a falling away, but apparently he's on the way back. I'd be interested in hearing more about him.

Didn't know he was still around. Saw him on TV years ago with Madilene Murry and he kept pestering her about needing to get saved so long and hard that she finally in frustration said, "OH MY GOD!" to which he said "See Madilene I knew you believed in God and she was near speechless.

Don't know but thought he was charismatic?? He was quite loud and outgoing and charismatic of character, not sure about of doctrine.

He was fine when he was called "The Bourbon Street Preacher". Then he fell away. I'm glad he's on his way back.

I'm also glad to hear that Bro. Bob is on the way back.

My impressions of "the old" Bro. Bob:

He was quite a good story teller and jokster, but I wished that he would have stuck a little bit more to God's Word than what he did back then. I used to have one of his life story sets on two 33 1/3 rpm vinyl LPs [remember them?], yet nowhere within it was any scripture given.

I attended one of his crusades way back in the early 1970's. While his message was a good evangelistic one, his invitation was one of the most high-pressure ones I'd ever heard:
"Peter denied the Lord three times. Now, we're only going to sing three verses of 'Just As I Am'......"

Essentially he struck me as being very shallow. That may have been a wrong impression (and I hope that it was wrong), but that's the impression I got.

OTOH, if Bro. Bob can reach people for Christ, then may God bless him and his ministry.

Any one of us can fail and fall. I'm living proof of that. I'm just thankful that we have a loving and forgiving Father who is willing to receive us back into His fold regardless of how far we may have strayed.

My prayer is that God will again use Bro. Bob Harrington to reach many folks for Christ.
