HIGHLANDS RANCH – The issue of being transgender usually pops up with students in high school. However, a 2nd grade boy wants to dress as a girl and be addressed with a girl's name.

My son is in 2nd grade and he's just a baby. I can't imagine having him decide he wants to be a girl. SOMETHING happened to that boy that's caused this. I'm sure of it. I feel for him and the life he's going to be leading that's filled with sin. :( I can't even begin to imagine.

Maybe he heard that little girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice, while little boys are made of snips and snails and puppy dog tails.

IMHO, this case serves to illustrate why private education is needed. Then people can segregate themselves accordingly.

I know some second graders who want to be spiderman and cinderella. That doesn't mean they are actually allowed to become their favorite hero! Good grief!

One more good reason to home school. My eight year old is a little young, in my opinion, to have to explain something like this. What is wrong with this boy's parents?

A little gender confusion isn't unusual around that age. It's nearly always harmless and something that the child will grow out of. So that, itself, doesn't bother me so much.

But for the adults to indulge it to such ridiculous extremes will be harmful in the long run.

No kidding there! I have a third grader who thinks she's a princess, but that doesn't make her one...'cept in her daddy's eyes but that's a whole 'nother story!
