Bush Lost the War in Afghanistan and We now need to accept that

    We're talking about a war that has been going on for 8 years, the third longest war in US history. We're asking whether 40K additional troops should be committed to that war. I' arguing against that saying that the war was lost long ago when it was put on the back burner. I'm saying that our president who started this war has said that the assumed original objective of fighting it, to capture bin Laden and break up al Quaeda, was no longer a priority. These are good reasons for pulling out.

    What good reasons do you have to esculate the war?

    Now you're being intellectually dishonest. In one of your earlier incantations (now banned...forgive me, but there's been so many that I don't remember which one it was), you said you would support action in Afghanistan. Now, you don't. Is it because your "mister perfect" President is having trouble making decisions...are you backpedaling for him? Or are you just backpedaling for its own sake?

    Like I said...intellectually dishonest.

    I personally changed my mind about the war in Afghanistan when I discovered that the FBI can't charge Obama with any crimes related to 9/11 because they don't have any evidence. The GW Bush said that al Quaeda was no longer a priority for counter terrorism. I'm not at all certain that bin Laden is even alive at this point.

    War was declared when we invaded another sovereign nation. It happened the same way in Iraq and in Viet Nam. The same thing happened when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.

    Info on the Tiny Little Empire.

    The Japanese Empire occupied 7.4 million square km at its peak. The Imperial Japanese Army and Imperial Navy were considered among the most powerful in the world, and had many more aircraft carriers than the US, or even Allied forces combined.

    Conquered large portions of China. Conquered Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Burma, Indonesia, Mongolia, Philippines,Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, the Marianas, Marshall Islands, Guam, Wake, Gilbert Islands etc. Japan took needed raw materials from the defeated territories. Cruel treatment and atrocities were a hallmark of the EOJ.

    It took a combination of Britain, the US, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and Holland to defeat them.
