    I agree with Brother Curtis and hope all branches of government continue to function as the Constitution says, even in an emergency.

    Observing how people in general are at their limits with government, taxes, and interference in their lives, especially in independent thinking areas of the country that are adamant about freedom, I do not even want to think about the reaction and consequences of Mr. Bush not leaving office in January 2009.

    Wow, you certainly give the impression that you are a Bush acolyte.
    If they are such an obstacle, then why don't we simply dissolve Congress and proclaim the POTUS as the Supreme Ruler? That certainly would make things easier.

    Perhaps you have a selective memory - how many Congressman or Senators voted against the Patriot Act after 9/11?

    Don't know anything about rayguns, but I do know that they could attempt to reclassify them as enemy combatants......

    oh, you might not have seen that post...but the army did start developing microwave-based weapons...mainly to quell overzealous demostrators and protestors but who knows what other uses it could come in handy for...
