It's a wonderful website --very edifying and informative. It's worth camping on for big blocks of time. I have done so over the years. Michael Haykin is the director. I have appreciated his ministry and historical studies. I have recommended a number of his lectures before. Nathan Finn is another able man on the site who I have quoted before.

Most people from a Baptist background are featured like Keach, Gill, Fuller, Booth, Spurgeon, the Halls Sr. and Jr. But there are articles on some non-Baptists such as Whitefield and Ryle.

Book reviews and audio messages come in handy. I can't say enough nice things about the Andrew Fuller Center.

    Just A Funny Aside

On that Old School Baptist website I went to the "See What's New" link. It featured an article from June of 2009. They do put the "old" in Baptist!

I certainly don’t doubt the guy’s conviction (I know atheists with strong convictions). As for me, I also stand firm on my views (on this topic they differ from the article). But I don’t disrespect the guy for expressing his own doctrines. More people should be able to stand on their beliefs even through disagreements. The military had a term for that…but I can’t say it here . The issue is when you decide it is time to express what other people believe. The author understood his position, but not the opposing view. But you do bring up a good point, too many times people are unwilling to even hold a position but are blown this way or that. The military had a term for that, also.

The last letter that Fuller wrote to his good friend John Ryland Jr :

"I am a poor, guilty creature, but Christ is a almighty Saviour. I have preached and written much against the abuse of the doctrine of grace; but that doctrine is all my salvation and all my desire. I have no other hope than from salvation by mere sovereign, efficacious grace, through the atonement of my Lord and Saviour. With this hope, I can go into eternity with composure."

Guess that meant that neither one of them were "real baptists"

  Guess it does depending on who's doing the defining (seriously, though, I doubt anyone would question the validity of calling either "real Baptists").

Even if someone suggested that Spurgeon was Catholic. People suggest a lot of stupid stuff. Suggesting doesn't make it so.

 Leave it to EW&F to point out the obvious...

But that is the problem with churches today. They don't recognize these doctrinal signs.

Lets face it Jon, the problem(s) with churches today are myriad. I sometimes wonder whether Christ would even recognize it or validate it as His bride! Holstein is false as are many of the TV evangelists....but what about the ones claiming legitimicy? Take a close look at them. How does a person who has been a sinner for so long and gifted a newlife from the blood of Christs ultimate sacrifice ---how can they ever trust man made doctrine? Of course you cant answer that ....see that's a love that grows in you when you begin to see that He is both a Just God and a Mercyful God. See then you are no longer a legalist. Funny how that works right. You are made righteous by Christs blood and all you know....from there on you are different.....your heads underwater but im breathing fine (to take from a song I heard from John Legend)

    Then its a discovery!
