I'm not sure how to answer. I've read some of the institutes, the parts I was particularly interested in, but not the whole by any means.

The parts on Reformed PadeoBaptism were very enlightening ;)

I have not read all of the Institutes, but what I have read I found to be very good. There were some areas that I do not agree with of course.

I have heard some anti-Calvinists make the claim that John Calvin not once mentions the love of God in his intstitutes. Boy is that easy to prove wrong. They also attack them because he was a young man when he wrote them, as if only older men are able to write.
