I am sure to start an argument with this statement, but here goes anyway.

"A person can be born again as a result of ANY teachings about Jesus".

Yes, even from the Mormons! There just needs to be the work of GOD to cause people to ask questions and to seek God and His answers.

The Mormons teach "another" gospel. I don't know how you can say that. Maybe you should study up on their teaching a bit. For starters:

The Mormon Church teaches the following:
    1) There are many Gods and that people (some of us for example) can progress to become Gods and Goddesses. (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, by Joseph Fielding Smith, pp. 349, 370, 373; Gospel Principles, by the Mormon Church, 1986 and older editions, pp.190-191; Achieving A Celestial Marriage, by the Mormon Church, pp.129-132; History of the Church, 6:306 (Vol 6, page 306); Teachings of the Prophet Spencer W. Kimball, pp. 28, 51-53.)
    2) Those who become Gods will each have his own world and with his wife (wives?) procreate spirits who will be raised to maturity and go into bodies on the new world. These new people will worship those who procreated their spirits, in the same way we worship God the Father. (Gospel Principles, by the Mormon Church, 1986 and older editions, pp. 9, 190-191.)
    3) God the Father has a father. He was once a man like us who died and was resurrected as part of his progressing to godhood. He has a body of flesh and bones. The Father, Son and Holy Ghost are three separate Gods. (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, by Joseph Fielding Smith, pp. 345-347, 370; Mormon Doctrine, by Apostle Bruce R. McConkie, pp. 321, 576-577, 589; Doctrine and Covenants 130:22; "The Restoration of Major Doctrines Through Joseph Smith," The Ensign, January 1989, p. 28; Doctrines of the Gospel, Student Manual, Religion 231 and 232, p. 7.)
    4) Jesus Christ is our elder brother, the first spirit born to God the Father and Mother in Heaven. His physical body was conceived physically by the Father and his earthly mother, Mary, just as ours was by our parents. This was part of Jesus Christ's progression to become a God. Mormon doctrine also teaches that Jesus Christ and Lucifer are spirit brothers, both were born of God the Father and Mother in Heaven and raised to maturity in a pre-mortal pre-existence. (Gospel Principles, by the Mormon Church, 1986 and older editions, pp.15-16; Mormon Doctrine, by Apostle Bruce R. McConkie, pp. 192, 546-547, 589-590, 742; Gospel Through The Ages, Milton R. Hunter, p. 15; "The Restoration of Major Doctrines Through Joseph Smith," The Ensign, January 1989, p. 28-29; "Whom Say Ye That I Am", Family Home Evening Manual, published by the Mormon Church, 1972, pp. 125-126.)

Salvation (being born again) is by the grace of God, the teaching of scripture in any context can be used by Him. If we major on the 'teaching of the church' we are starting to push the point of making 'churchians' rather than christians.
Any and all churches have the responsibility to preach the Word completely and honestly, no church can give salvation outside Christ, and many so called churches (including some of those mentioned in the poll) fail dismally. Truly we need to thank God that salvation rests in Him, not in the church or its teachings.

    Regards
    Bob

Being born again is something done on the part of the Holy Spirit, completely separate from the teachings of any organization.

No person was ever born again from the teachings of any earthly institution or person. It is solely the work of God.

I suspect, though, that the poll is mistakenly using born-again in the place of conversion.

Anyone can be converted to anything by incorrect teachings. However, there is only one truth, and none of the organizations named carry that truth.

I voted yes to all. Here is my thinking on the subject. Some of the churches mentioned do not preach the Word of God. However that preaching my cause someone to question and search out the true Word on their own. In that case then incorrect teaching my indeed lead someone to Christ.

That being said I do not reccomend this as a way to find God. If a church is preaching any other Gospel then RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN .

I can say that a person CAN be born again through the teachings of the Mormons. I am an example of that. After being raised in the Mormon Temple I got my hands on a proper version of the Bible (not an altered LDS approved copy) and started to see things that didn't jive with LDS Teachings and as I read more God revealed things to me which ended up leading me away from the LDS and eventually to Christ.

I voted yes to all as salvation is by God's grace through the blood of Christ. Once saved and by reading the bible,I think they would find a church that teaches the truth of God's holy word,as I am suspect of some of the above mentioned churches. MK

    To Kilad

You were not saved through the teachng of the Mormon church. Something in their teaching aroused your suspicion regarding truth and as you researched these questions the Holy Spirit of God opened your eyes to your need of biblical salvation. The Mormon church did not do this they are a cult under the guidance of Satan and I gaurentee you Satan had no intention of seeing you saved.

John 6:44 says in part, "no man can come to me except the Father draw him" coupled with Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

As you opened your heart to truth God responded with grace that drew you to Him, 'for by grace are you saved through faith.

Please do not give honor to a cult by giving them the glory that belongs only to God.

when a groups changes Jesus, they have changed the gospel, it is no longer the bibleical Jesus they are talking about. It is a Jesus they have made up. No one can be saved with a phoney gospel about a phoney Jesus. God has one way and one way only for salvation, and when anyone changes that one way, there is no gospel, no Jesus, we do it all God's way or not at all.

I've always believed that people are saved by Christ through faith in Him. The teaching of a particular Church has little to do with it. . Evangelism is orchestrated by the Holy Spirit. Men and Churches can be the tools He uses but, I don't believe it's of them at all but through them.

You cannot find salvation in a church that does not teach the word of God. The bible teaches that we can know the truth. If we seek God we will find Him.

A true seeker of God will care about and recognize false teachings and may be prompted by those false teachings to seek out the truth.

Salvation comes through hearing........You never know what you are going to hear.
