Can anyone tell me what this means?

    CONTROL PANEL ERROR
    C.\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SETNOTE.CPL.
    this comes up when I go in to control panel..... what on earth is it :confused:

    A .CPL file is a control panel applet.

    If you locate any .CPL file and double click on it it will open that applet.

    Example: I can click on START, then click on RUN and type in DESK.CPL, then clik on OK and viola, I've got the display setting applet only. Pretty cool?

    This may be a remnant of a program that you have un-installed or the result of a recent operating system upgrade. SETNOTE.CPL is not a default Microsoft Control Panel Applet. It looks like an applet for: IBM ViaVoice Gold 4.3.0.1
