In 1894, the first production car (not prototype) produced. Who built that first car?

The "horseless carriage" was a little different from the first real cars. The Horse carriage was invented in Gaermany by Gottlieb Daimler and produced in the US, on Long Island, New York, by a famous musical instrument company. What was the company?

Dale Earnhart, Jr. won this year's Dayton 500, actually last Sunday. What kind of car did he drive in the race?

What car did Adolph Hitler order to be put into production?

Prolly the Volkswagon, right? For the common folks?

Remember reading that somewhere . . and playing SLUG_BUG with my boys well into their teen years!

Don't like the looks of the NEW bug.

The Doc is correct. The VW was built by Dr. Ferdinand Porsche on Hitler's orders.

Yes, that was the same Dr. Porsche that went on to build the sports cars. He was not a German, but a Czech. He built the VW because Hitler wanted him to build it. Apparently it wasn't easy to say 'no' to Hitler during the 30's and 40's. He also built the Tiger tank and Auto Union (Audi) race cars. He started his own company after the war.

Porsche built VW engines with air-cooled, flat, horizontally opposed cylinder heads and mounted them in the rear of the car. Notice that all 911's have that same basic design today.
