I'm going to be going out today to start my Christmas shopping and I need to work hard because on Friday I'm traveling 7 hours to get my dad from my brother's and I'd love to have all of the gifts for my brother and his family shopped for and wrapped so I can bring it down. I'm thinking that I just may simplify and just bring one credit card with me. I have plenty of money set aside for Christmas but I can get some points AND not have to carry a wallet around with me. :)

I don't use credit cards because I don't like paying interest on the things I buy. If I can't afford to buy it in cash why would I buy it plus 15-29% interest. Credit cards are legalized loan sharks with how high the interest is. It has always bothered me that to build good credit, it's recommended to college students to get a credit card on top of having those huge college loans.

Not even going to get a credit card until it becomes necessary. I do use a debit card connected to my checking account, though, and it operates like a credit card.

Not exactly, if it is stolen - your checking account could be wiped in no time.
If you buy gas at the pump - they may put a hold of up to $100 on your account - even if you only end up buying $10 worth of gas.( could take 3-4 days to release that hold on your account)
    Here are advantages and disadvantages

There are no interest shares if you pay the full bill every month on time.

I agree but, in all fairness, if you have even decent credit, it's really easy to open a new 0% account. I get three or four offers per week.

I buy everything with my credit card. Pay it off every month though.

I have one credit card and have managed to reduce my monthly payments down to just the essentials with a few things for entertainment purposes. Growing up I was exposed to Dave Ramsey and while it didn't stick at the time I do try to live that kind of lifestyle these days. I try to keep as much cash on hand as possible and only use credit cards if needed.

I normally have a petty cash fund of $50 per month.
Larger purchases I put on my card -
I am a little strange - I spend less with a card , than I do with cash.

I use a credit card at gas stations. That way, if there is a skimmer, my bank account isn't compromised. I can live with having my credit card account temporarily frozen, but I can't live with having my bank account cleaned out.
