But if Santa Claus doesn't exist, where did he get his mailing address?

[IMG] did anyone see the Buffy the Vampire Slayer program where one of the characters proclaimed..."He does exist, Santa Clause...but not the Santa that all the stories are about...He actually eats little children"

As for me... I can take Santa stories and explanations lightly... I refuse to disbelieve anything I can not disprove. I've never had to "lie" to anyone... And I get a little annoyed when adults think they have to be fitted with a permanent long silvery needle to burst every bubble of imagination in a child... I just don't get the benifit of that. Those are the same people who like to tell me how impractical my own dreams are for myself... And I reply..."Dreams don't cost anything...they are free"

John...Tim Allen...Great movie...The Santa Clause...can't wait to see the sequel...And I will concede that you could very well be right about the rest of the Vicars message... it wasn't a critisism...it was my mind pondering what was submitted. You are right...it's much better to give the benifit of the doubt. I get that...and apprreciate your bringing that aspect to light.

Part of Christmas is joy...and there is joy in laughter... I don't really see anything wrong with that. God bless everyone here...may you find joy in this life..for from personal experience I can testify that those joyous thoughts and feelings are few and far between in this life.

I can biblically prove that Santa exists. Look at Zechariah 2:6 in the King James Version:

Ho, Ho!! come forth, and flee from the land of the north...

So a Merry Christmas, and Ho Ho Ho to all!!!!

The only thing that proves is there are many Biblical teachings about Jesus that satan has mimicked via "santa claus".

    1)His white hair like wool.
    2)Has a beard.
    3)Comes in red apparel.
4)Hour of his coming is a mystery.
    5)Is a carpenter.
6)Comes as a thief in the night.
    7)Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent
    8)Ageless, eternal
    9)Giver of gifts.
    10)Sits on a throne.
11)Wants little children to come to him.
    12)Judges
...and there is so much more! Satan/santa is leading adults and children away from Jesus. Ask any child what christmas is really about.

Someone probably has CC. I can't be bothered looking for it though, because although there are some rabid trekkies out there, it isn't at the level of every second house having a big photo of Capt Kirk/Picard out the front at Christmas time [IMG]

Would you believe it? Something Joshua and I agree 100% on? Ugh, gotta say it....

    GOOD PREACHING JOSH!

I couldn't bring myself to lie to our son about Santa Claus. It seemed like it would seriously hurt my credibility down the road.

That is a great link granny. I do ask, however, if the shepherds came to worship the babe and the Wise Men also, does that not constitute a mention of Christmas in the Bible?
Truly, Christmas as we generally have it today has little to do with Christ. To do away with it all though is like throwing the baby out with the bath water.
As christians, we need to do a whole lot of paring of what really is christmas and what is not.

If you will read all his links, etc, you may see it differently. When I set out on my search 4yrs. ago, I asked God to show me the truth...and He did. I wanted everything He has for me and my one desire is to walk as close to Him as I can.

My brother, who lives in Appling, GA. asked me just the other day what do I do now at Christmas-to which I replied, "I do exactly the same thing I do the other 364 days of the year...I live for God."

Here's a letter that came out in today's local paper, written by a second grader: "Dear Santa, I have been so good. I want you to bring me a bike and some playstation two games. I hope that God bless your heart and soel, while you are going into peoples houses and giving them presents. One more thing that I want for Jesus birthday. I really want this for Christmas for my whole family to be living on earth on Dec twentyfif. I pray when I am doing something for my Jesus. Your Friend, Tyree"

I wrote it exactly as it was printed and out of 12 pages of letters, this was the only one to even mention the Name of Jesus. This baby's parents have linked Santa with Jesus even tho' "Christmas" is taught nowhere in the Bible.

I have never seen the town lit up more nor the music played louder than I have this year & should the Lord tarry His coming, next year will be worse. I am not trying to change anyone's mind, but there's much information out there if one is interested in learning more...

Of course Christ's birth is mentioned in the Bible.

If you want to get technical...the rapture isn't called the rapture in the Bible either.

    Merry Christmas to all.

"Ambassadors have no battleships at their disposal, or heavy infantry, or fortresses. Their only weapons are words and opportunities."
    -Demosthenes, 343BC (2 Cor 5:20)

It may be pagan in origin, but what better opportunity to preach Jesus. I will take any open door the world wants to give me.

    Cheers,

    Jim

There is no "may be pagan in origin"... it most definitely is pagan in origin and God commands us to learn not the way of the heathen.

Yes, everyday is an excellent opportunity to preach Jesus! [IMG]
