    Rep. Duncan Hunter is a Republican candidate for President. I personally endorse him and agree 100% with his position on all the issues. I have known Duncan and his family since I was a teen and our families have associated for years.

    His campaign home-page is at:
    http://www.gohunter08.com/index.asp

    You may read about his position on most of the critical issued facing us today by clicking the "Core Principles" tab on his home page or this link: http://www.gohunter08.com/inner.asp?z=4

    I think his "Core Principles" will answer most questions that may be presented here. My purpose is not to debate his qualifications or position but, to inform those who may not know him that he is a solid candidate with the greatest degree of honesty and integrity. There are candidates who are stronger than Thompson and Paul in this race that have not gotten a lot of mainstream media coverage. I would encourage you to read his biography and "Core Principles" statement and you will come to appreciate him much.

    He is a strong, Christian family man and he certainly has my vote! :thumbs: :applause:

    If you like what you find, pass the word!

    Well, he may be a nice man, but his positions are diametrically opposed to my core beliefs and values. Starting at building a "Berlin Wall" on our southern border, to unconstitutional religious tests for judges. I won't be voting for him. Thank goodness he has no chance whatsoever of either being nominated nor elected.

    I had never heard of Duncan Hunter before a couple weeks ago when someone posted a link here to a quiz that told you who you should vote for (remember that?) It said I should vote for Hunter so I looked up his website.

    Your right Choctawman, he is a real solid conservative canidate. I will vote for him if I get the chance. Unfortunately, MP may also be right that Hunter does not have much of a chance of winning. He would be a great president though.

    Going down the line I have to say I cannot find much about Hunter I disagree with. His positions match my core beliefs and values well. The only thing I have found so far I disagree with is his proposal to limit citizenship to those born in the US who have at least one parent who is also a citizen.

    You know MP all fences are not equal. The Berlin Wall was to keep people in, this wall is to keep people out. There is a big difference.

    Duncan Hunter's support of the border fence is nothing new. The 52nd district in CA (Hunter's district) is in San Diego county near the Mexican border so this is a very important issue in his district. (they have some messed up districts in CA don't they?)

    From Hunter's website linked to by Chactawman:

    As part of the 1996 Illegal Immigration Reform Act (P.L. 104-208), Rep. Hunter authored the legislative language mandating a 14-mile triple fence along the San Diego-Mexico land border, which augmented the single layer fence he had built with surplus landing-matt in 1989. Since then he has worked, most notably against strong opposition of the Clinton Administration, to see that project completed. Since construction of the San Diego fence began:
    • Illegal alien apprehensions along the fenced region dropped from over 202,000 in 1992 to about 9,000 in 2004. Further, it is estimated that the apprehensions vs. attempts ratio increased to over 90%;
    • With the establishment of the San Diego border fence, crime rates in San Diego have fallen off dramatically. According to the FBI Crime Index, crime in San DiegoCounty dropped 56.3% between 1989 to 2000;
    • Vehicle drive-throughs in the region have fallen from between 6 to 10 per day before the construction of border infrastructure, to only 4 drive-throughs in 2004 and those occurred only where the secondary fence is incomplete;
    • The fence has forced drug smugglers, who once easily crossed the San Diego border, to attempt to enter the U.S. through major ports of entry instead. This significantly increases the likelihood of discovery and seizure of illegal narcotics entering our country.
    As a result of the success of the San Diego fence, Rep. Hunter authored the provisions of the Secure Fence Act calling for the construction of 854 miles of border fence along the five most prolific smuggling corridors on the Southwest border. While construction of the Secure Fence project is not moving as rapidly as Rep. Hunter would like, the Administration is moving forward and as of September 30, 2007, 70 miles of new border pedestrian fence has been constructed. Congressman Hunter remains engaged in ensuring that the Administration meets the mandates put in place by the Secure Fence Act and secures our borders as rapidly as possible.

    Hunter is a solid Conservative and right on all the major issues. It's too bad he's not getting any traction.:(

    Thanks, Choctawman, for introducing me to this candidate. You're the first person I've "met" who supports Duncan and this is the first time I've ever looked at his postitions on the issues. I like a good deal about what he has to say, but occasionally he seems to blur the lines between individuality and collectivism especially on "Federal Obsenity Laws."

    He justifies this defiance of liberty by stating:

    (Bolding mine.) This is fundamentally flawed because his children are not mine, my children are not his, and axiomatically no one's children are "ours." Sadly, Hunter reflects the Clintonesqe mentality that it takes a village of regulators to raise a child. To which I unapologetically say: leave me, my family, and my freedom alone.

    I'm with you on this...i think Duncan Hunter is the real deal for conservatives, but i think him coming out of the House and not being a house hold name is what is hurting him.
    I'm still undecided on who i will vote for (although i know who i WILL NOT be voting for), but if i had to choose today i honestly think i would vote for Duncan Hunter.

    Duncan Hunter's son, USMC Capt. Duncan D Hunter returned home TODAY from Afghanistan and his 3rd overseas tour of duty. He is running for the house seat in the 52nd congressional district.

    We will be hearing a lot more from Duncan Hunter's campaign after the Thanksgiving weekend. He is making more media appearances and will be participating in upcoming debates and forums.

    Say, he seems like a fine man! May he have a great future in the Grand Old Party! We could use a lot more men like him! He is doing the right thing by introducing himself to the Republican Party this year. Maybe he will be tapped for the V-P job!

    I like Duncan Hunter, and would be pleased to support him if he gets the nomination. Although I am a Tancredo supporter, I see little difference in these two.
