Are you on a low cholesterol diet? Are you taking meds to lower your cholesterol? What about exercise? How is that working for you?

Better living through chemistry I always say.

I've been on Crestor for a few years now.

    Zetia gave me gastritis.

Got my LDL to a new low ~ 143

Unfortunately my HDL has always been low, once as low as 17.

    Generally hovering around 43 now.

Not a great ratio but I'm living. :tongue3:

I'm active but not aggressive about exercising; I'd rather watch someone else do it.

Would you like fries with that... All my family drop through heart attacks.....I am on a lipid lowering med, blood pressure pills and very occasionally have a squirt of GTN for angina. On the plus side, I am not diabetic, have lost a great deal of weight and go for a constitutional totter mostly on a daily basis.....why sweat it, I WILL die one day and as I have no human dependants why worry

I haven't had my cholesterol checked in years, although for years it was routinely checked because of my military flight status. Mine was never high, but maybe I'll get it looked at in a couple of years, to see how it's making out.

Hey, I do take a daily dose of fish oil and aspirin. Do any of you follow that regimine? I am not sure how many years I have been doing that, maybe 3.

I don't know if my dislike for eggs has helped keep my cholesterol low or not, but I have despised even the smell of fried, scrambled, or boiled eggs since I was a child.

Melanie, keep up the fight. It sounds like you have a handle on things. Why worry???? Don't you know that this international caucus, known as the Baptist Board would be sorely grieved upon hearing of your demise?

I do the fish oil and aspirin thing. Although my doctor tells me to take at least 3 fish oil pill a day, I usually only take one. I also try to eat some Salmon or Sardines once a week.

When I started eating meat and cheese my cholesterol and triglycerides went way down. Doctor friends of mine tell me that kids who drink a lot of soft drinks typically have high cholesterol.

Would probably be a good idea. I recently had mine checked for the first time at 50 years of age and for me it was a pitiful result. It was a wake up call that I can't get away with constantly eating an unsatisfactory nutritional diet and should make some changes. I am anxious to get it rechecked to see how I have done.

I certainly believe that and that the same goes for adults, from what I gather the sugars have your liver working on that instead of making the good cholestorol.
