Here is an interesting article about a Pastor that is trying to minister in this area. -

    - Minister Uses His Tattoos to Talk About Jesus' 'Love, Grace and Power'

A Michigan minister is using his 150 hours' worth of body art to make a statement of faith. Known as "Pastor Freak," Steve Bensinger, 44, senior pastor of Come As You Are Church (CAYAC) in Kalamazoo, said the tattoos, which all have biblical themes, have helped him reach more than 2,000 people with the gospel since 1997 when he founded CAYAC. He also believes they have helped make Christianity more accessible to nonbelievers.

I think some of those are pretty cool. I think later on, I may consider getting a Christian tattoo, but I'm not sure exactly what yet.

    Take care.

Not really but I do notice that women wear alot less clothing in order to reveal sensuously placed tattoos. Some vices go hand in hand.

Saggy, I was thinking on the same lines. Have a senior adult weekend to the Christian tatoo parlor. Stop by 7-11 and get some Near Beer, some tobaccoless cigarettes and hit the road. On the way, we can stop by the Christian Risque Cafe, where the strippers leave everything on.

Yes I will keep my opinion within myself, but here is the Word of God to share to you --
Leviticus 19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD. (KJV) [IMG]

I heard that the culture of the time meant that people were getting tattoos on their skin which were a sign of the particular god they worshipped, hence why the marking of the skin was forbidden by God. Is this true?

Because it has something to do with IDOLATRY, that's why in that verse [Lev.19:28] after the phrase 'nor print any marks upon you proceeded with a quotation mark 'COLON' : as it was saying here's the reason -- I am the LORD.

    Hello friends,

I do not think tattoos are from the devil, nor do I think that Christians should be condemned who get one (or some). The body's gonna burn folks.

Moreover, those who cite leviticus 19:28 should also cite the verse right before it. Because it also says you must trim your hair and beard in a certain way. Am I being sinful when I shave my beard, or get a flat top haircut? Why do you cite this verse in leviticus when tattooing comes up, but fail to mention the verse before it when men shave and get hair-cuts? Those laws and codes were for the Jews.

I am quite surprised to see tattoos compard to pornography, because porn involves clear, anti-God behavior. Tattoos can simply be an expression of your faith in Christ. What's done in faith and truth is not sinful.

    Thanks,
    God bless.

Know ye not that your body is the Temple of the Holy Sprit?

He that defiles the temple, him shall god destroy.

God gave you a body to care for. Mess it up intentionally after you are saved and you will give account for it at the Judgement Seat of Christ.

    In HIS service;
    Jim

Hi jim, thanks for your comment.

I indeed know that our bodies our the temple of Christ. It is a matter of opinion that tattoos are "defilement" of that temple.

Is shaving off my beard defilement, or getting a flat top?

    What constitutes defilement exactly?

Also, jim, I don't think you should take it upon yourself to claim that we will be judged for getting a tattoo when it is merely a matter of opinion, rather than Biblical authority.

    Thanks,
    God bless.
