Christian Converts From Islam Imprisoned in Egypt

    A Christian couple has spent months in prison because of the wife’s conversion. Naglaa, a Christian convert from Islam, and her husband, Malak Gawargios Fahmy, were imprisoned in mid-February in an effort to force Naglaa to give up her Christian faith. The pair was arrested at the airport as they tried to leave Egypt for Cyprus….“Becoming Christian shouldn’t be a crime punishable by a prison sentence,” Egyptian church leaders said. “It is strictly forbidden to convert from Islam to Christianity….Freedom of religion should be a human right to all, and conversions should take place with each person’s own accord.”

    We don't begin to appreciate the freedoms we enjoy in this part of the world.

    I had contact with a chap in Pakistan who wanted to convert. I sent him literature under a false company name addressed to his company. After a long time in email exchange, we arranged for him to meet with our Baptist missionary. He was to pass a note to a messenger outside the Christian Church there mentioned where they could meet. The meeting site was then surveyed for several days before they would actually meet. The reason. Some fake conversion interests and the missionary or Christian contact could end up dead. It is not an easy field...not an easy field...and we can freely talk "religion" on our street corners.
