Have you read the book "How To Lie With Statistics?" I am sure you do know that there have been people caught reporting studies which have little or no data or the data was changed to try and get a publication and make it appear that the study was sound when it was not.

Recently I did a study and could have reported that 1.45% of the possible repondents came from the north. The problem is that I never gave the number of respondents and the possible number from each region. I never told you how the data was gathered. I never told you if I ever contacted anyone from the south or how many I contacted from the north. Unless you have done a similar study you do not know if 1.45% is goood or bad.

How do you know the statistics you gave are true? What did you do to verify the data and the analysis of it. What did you do to verify how the data was collected.

Excellent point, gb! That is why we are to provide links to the statistics, and other information, we post on the BB.

It also protects us from a copyright standpoint...

This is exactly why I have repeatedly requested TBLady to provide her reference sources for the "studies" she mentions. It is very telling that to date she has not provided a single one.

Hows this for statisics. I have asked over 20 people (men and women) who they thought was MORE comapassionate and empathtic to others...MEN or WOMEN and guess what Everyone Single of them said WOMEN were! That's all I needed to know..like I didn't know the facts already.

Hows that to blow your stupid remarks out of the water all of you who want to argue something not worth argueing over.

Statistics? You asking 20 (or more) people is not a statistical study or analysis.

    Stupid remarks? Arguing?

    Others are arguing?

Please research how a statistical study is set up and carried out.

That you could find 20 people who agree with you is not amazing. I'm sure that any of us could do it.

This is the formal fallacy of ad populum. According to Copi and Cohen:

    Likewise, according to Anthony Weston:

You keep defeating your own case (argument) by falling prey to common formal fallacies. A formal fallacy is called that because the person makes grave errors in the formation (form) of the argument they are attempting to present.

Whatever mobo jumbo LOL...you guys just can't stand the fact I'm right and you are wrong.

Such humilty on this board, and by those who profess to be leaders. Just goes to prove what I have written in other posts...no wonder non Christians do not care what we have to say, we can't even agree with each other on common sense and simple issues.

why do they call it common sense...when common sense ISN'T so common LOL

Most women I have talked with over the years said that they would rather work for a man than a woman because the women will nit pick each other. So are women telling us that men are more compassionate and women more vicious?

Humility... Ironic... I am glad to see that you are so open minded and willing to read a bit to increase your knowledge and understanding. I guess since you have declared yourself to be right and everyone else (including well respected published textbooks) to be wrong there is no point in continuing the discusion. If it will make you feel better you can post a final statement declaring yourself the "winner" and after that I can close the thread if you like?

How is asking for facts being arrogant. It is biblical and wise according to Acts 17::11. I Peter 3:15 tells how we are to give a defense to everyoine who asks.

1 Peter 3:15, "but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;"

In Matthew 14:6-11 who wanted John's head?

I'm not the one who took a post out of context and who majored on a minor and who is belitting others calling them names. I never claimed to a leader, you, DHK and others are....who are wrong yet won't admit it.

You are just too smart for the likes of any of us. You "win." Brother Martin I am sorry that we hijacked your thread so far off topic. Thread closed.
