Some years ago I was pastoring a church that was led to help churches get started. The pastor of one of them told me we were rich and we needed to help them. We had helped them a lot. I met with a group of nine other churches who helped them 100% until we felt they could do on less and less. When he came to me for help the last time I told him he needed to talk with them about giving. The next month he told me that the church gave wa past what he ever saw. It was the start of a permanent change for the church.

If the church does not give then imagine the burden it will have if it does not give now.

Frankly, I have never seen people who were being discipled who did not give. Those people give because they are grateful of how God has worked in their life.

IntoJesus,
I have a concern that you came here, you've talked to others who share your opinion but only now you're getting an email together to send to the pastor that you say you love.

Galatians 6:1-2 - Brothers, if someone is caught in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual should restore such a person with a gentle spirit, watching out for yourselves so you won’t be tempted also. 2 Carry one another’s burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ

If you have an issue with what the pastor and the church leadership is doing, then you should go to them first. I am inclined to agree with your concerns about the fund raising apparatus, but your first stop should have been the pastor and not other church members or a public forum.

Dear Tom,

I came here to get feedback from others so I could better be equppied to speak to my Pastor. If there were other churches here on this forum that had a similar experince and it was positive then I knew I might need to re-think how I was feeling. My goodness, this may be a public forum but you do not know my identity or the place I go to church. And I do love my Pastor and do not believe he is doing wrong. I believe he believes this will help with the growth of our church. I like to take my time before I jump into anything. All other posts were very helpful to me and one of them I even printed to use as a guideline. I did NOT COME here to bash my church or my Pastor. My plan from the beginning was to address the issue. I just wanted to hear from other churches that had gone through building phases and how God met there needs.

Yes, i've been in such a campaign.
13 couples were appointed in a hyerarchal pattern.
I was second and exptcted to give $10,000.
When I signed up for $4,500 i was taken out of that
position. (This was in the late 1970s so just multiply
all $ figures by FIVE for today's equavelent).

I gave $4,500 above my tithe. The person who
replaced me didn't give his $10,000. Instead, he
bought a new car :(

The real clue should have been when someone
said, LET US PRAY. The representative we were
paying $20,000 said: "no, let us get on with business".
Two members left right then & there :(

Such methods of raising money are a blight upon
Baptists in particular and Christians in general :(

Be like Joseph!

Gen 39:12 (KJV1611 Edition):
And shee caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me:
and he left his garment in her hand,
and fled, and got him out.
